Ramp Service Manager - Airport
The Bangor International Airport is sourcing candidates for an open position as the Ramp Services Manager.
Incumbent serves as Ramp Services Manager and is responsible for coordination of below-the-wing aircraft ground handling services on the aviation ramp.
DUTIES
- Serves as Manager of Ramp Supervisors, Shift Leads and Ramp Attendants. May assist in routine service tasks to safeguard service levels, when required. Reviews weekly and daily flight schedules, organizes, assigns, and supervises aviation services for general and commercial aviation ramps.
- Interviews and screens applicants for employment, recommends hiring of employees, maintains personnel records, evaluates, disciplines, schedules, and oversees training.
- Regularly reviews fuel manuals and airline maintenance and ground handling alerts, publications, and bulletins.
- Coordinates services with aviation clientele, airport service personnel, various other service providers and government agencies.
- Assists with establishing and maintaining ground handling policies and procedures.
- Reviews equipment requirements to ensure customer needs; Periodically spot checks equipment and recommends maintenance and replacement.
- Maintains applicable service standards, safety standards and security procedures.
- Facilitates monthly team meetings and ensures compliance with all applicable directives; Communicates changes or additions to departmental policies to the staff.
- Works with the Customer Service Supervisor to provide a premium customer service experience; Motivates and encourages all staff to provide the highest safety and service levels.
- Handles customer requests and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Builds positive relationships with customers and tenants, both internal and external.
- Handles customer complaints and/or objectives on service and provide follow up.
- Provides information to aviation clients and seeks out opportunities to increase sales and service levels.
- Responsible for ensuring proper training of personnel.
- Schedules employee shifts and work assignments and processes weekly payroll and corresponding records.
- Maintains inventory of pilot supplies, aircraft engine oils, and cleaning materials; requisitions replacements.
- Compiles monthly billing for hangar rent and tie-down, landing fees and other applicable charges.
- Serves as Ramp Supervisor when needed.
- Promotes growth and development of assigned team members to promote team cohesiveness and trust by monitoring and evaluating team members’ performance in a professional, positive, accurate and timely manner.
- Attends training classes and seminars, as required.
- Must be able to effectively supervise and interact with all shifts.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience.
- An Associate degree or five (5) to ten (10) years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
- General knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in aviation support, including knowledge of aviation equipment, fuels, lubricants, and supplies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in dealing with the public in a representational/sales setting. Must be able to present employer/service and deal with service related questions in a most effective manner.
- Working knowledge of ATA 103 and NFPA 407.
- Aptitude in supervising and developing staff.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills.
- Consistently demonstrated good organizational and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook with the ability to learn new software and systems as required.
- Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions involved with aviation support and ability to replay that knowledge to others.
- Ability to assign, direct and oversee the work of subordinate personnel and to ensure the safety of others.
- Knowledge of inventory and billing practices and procedures and ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to legally operate department vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to remain on call for a 24-hour basis.
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS
Incumbent performs a variety of supervisory and aviation support duties to ensure the safe and efficient performance of aviation ground crew and works according to the established guidelines of the department and of the aviation support field, to include all applicable Federal regulations. Good judgment is needed in selecting the most pertinent guidelines and procedures needed to meet emergency or complex situations.
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY
Incumbent is responsible for the supervision and performance of aviation ground support activities to ensure safety and efficiency. Incumbent receives specific instructions and works according to the formal schedule and guidelines of the
department. Majority of work is reviewed for overall soundness and compliance with departmental and regulation policy.
SCOPE OF WORK OPERATIONS
Incumbent maintains a working relationship with department supervisors, associates, subordinate personnel and various airline and government jurisdictions for a variety of purposes, including assigning tasks, evaluating condition of facilities and equipment, and ensuring the proper rendering of ground support services.
Reports directly to Assistant Airport Director.
OTHER
Incumbent performs duties both in and out of doors in varying weather conditions and is frequently exposed to the normal hazards of the aviation support industry, including noise, fumes, and grease. Flexible work shift is required. Safety precautions must be observed at all times to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
Pay range is $30.66 - $41.19 per hour (based on a 40-hour work week) and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
