Overview

The Assistant Director for Admissions is a key member of the Admissions team and is involved in all aspects of admissions and outreach operations. The Assistant Director serves as the initial and primary contact for prospective students. In coordination with the Assistant Dean for Admissions and the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director is responsible for recruiting students for attendance at prospective and admitted student events. The Assistant Director will collaborate on planning and coordinating special and regularly-scheduled outreach and recruitment events. The Assistant Director will develop and implement a plan to ensure each applicant is fully supported throughout the admissions process.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the student ambassador team, the tour and class visit schedule for prospective and current applicants.
  • Assists in the evaluation and determination of final decisions on select applicant files.
  • Interviews and counsels admitted students, wait-listed applicants, and denied applicants.
  • Manages communications with all applicants throughout the application process.
  • Assists with formulating the annual recruiting strategy. Deliver information about CUA Law at the Law School Admission Council’s forums and individual college and university law fairs
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Director of Admissions to assess the effectiveness of fall recruiting and other initiatives to meet enrollment targets for the law school.
  • Assists with Coordinating logistics for on and off-campus matriculation events and initiatives, including Admitted Student day, admitted student dinners and receptions, and orientation.
  • Participates in the design, updating, and ongoing evaluation process of all admissions publications, WebPages, and our admissions social networking sites.
  • Develops and enhances professional relationships with undergraduate pre-law advisors.
  • Assists with updates to educational/marketing materials pertaining to law school admission.
  • Provides regular, creative, and proactive input to improve offices services and functions.
  • In absence of the Dean for Admissions and Director for Admissions, ensures that essential services and functions are executed.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean for Admissions and the Dean of the Law School.
  • Manages the social media groups for the incoming class.
  • Represents the law school by attending several professional meeting and conferences (ie. LSAC, Prelaw Conference, CLEO, etc.)
  • Conducts market research and keeps informed of trends in higher education and legal education. Implements this knowledge to adapt admissions recruitment to the needs of a highly diverse and technically sophisticated applicant pool. This includes researching and implementing new marketing tools, strategies and procedures.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree required with three (3) or more years of experience with applicant counseling and recruiting. Experience with JD recruitment and higher education environment in liue of experience.

Proficiency in PeopleSoft (or similar database), Aces2, Unite, social media and Microsoft Office suite of products desired.

Possession of current and valid U.S. driver’s license appropriate to the type of university vehicle and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) as stipulated in the Vehicle Guidelines and Procedures Manual administered through the office of Environmental Health and Safety. Annual clearance of MVR check through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.
