Job Summary

Liberty Cruise is looking for an Assistant Director of Marine Operations to help build a highly efficient, revenue-oriented, and optimized department while achieving a top level of customer satisfaction. Critical thinking and strategic planning are key traits for this position in order to minimize downtime and properly allocate company resources.

This individual will act as the hiring manager for their department. This individual should have experience in the following aspects of hiring: recruit, onboard, train/ mentor staff, review performance and administer disciplinary action.

The ADOM will also control inventory and place orders for supplies and parts.

This position supports the other members of the core leadership team and drives the company's best practices with regard to equipment strategy and budgeting. The Director will ensure full compliance with Coast Guard regulations, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as the company's policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Review and submit payroll weekly
  • Inventory tracking
  • create an organized and sustainable inventory tracking method
  • accurately track cost expenditures of consumables
  • produce monthly inventory reports
  • All purchase ordering and receipt tracking
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Engine parts as needed
  • Miscellaneous items as needed
  • Sourcing quotes for contract work
  • Setting up new accounts with vendors
  • Audit safety drills
  • Report on satisfaction, time taken, knowledge, coachability of crew
  • Conduct vessel walk throughs and report findings
  • Report on maintenance
  • Report on engineering
  • Report on vessel cleanliness
  • Report on pier cleanliness
  • Report on warehouse organization
  • Oversight on schedule and operational issues
  • Adding trips, removing trips - notifying correct channels
  • Assisting in vessel logistics for holidays
  • Assist in shipyard renovations
  • Aid in creating worklist
  • Routinely visit shipyard to check on progress
  • Manage in house crew during shipyard work
  • Convert deficiency responses to click up tasks
  • Follow up with violations
  • Audit the Engine Room log for accuracy and completeness
  • Track all anniversary dates and assist in keeping vessels in compliance
  • Engineering and Maintenance
  • Respond to emergencies minimizing downtime, providing onsite supervision and direction
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance safety and efficiency in the operations
  • Supervise crew members and ensure they are following company policies, procedures, and

safety protocols

  • Administer company policies including disciplinary actions
  • Recommend plans for continuous improvement for all vessel operations to ensure all services provided in the port meet or exceed company standards
  • Monitor weather conditions and offer operational actions
  • Make recommendations on vessel mechanics and repairs
  • Review required vessel maintenance and schedule tasks and ensure completion
  • Participate in the execution of the Safety Program, including emergency drills
  • Participate in the proper maintenance of all ship’s systems and boarding facilities including

but not limited to gangways, diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, water (potable, raw,

black, and gray), fire suppression, communications, and navigation

  • Execute other projects as assigned by management
  • Ensure that incident reports are completed accurately and promptly
  • Train new captains and discern when they are cleared to operate our vessels
  • Manage the marine crew
  • Periodically ride aboard our cruises and report findings to management
  • Operate vessels as master as needed
  • On call duties as needed
  • Additional responsibilities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following: Engineering, Vessel Operations, Marine Science, Business, Hospitality, Management, Construction, Facilities, or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the position
  • Must possess a 100-ton USCG masters license
  • 2 years experience operating passengers boats in NY harbor
  • First aid & CPR
  • TWIC
  • MROP (marine radio operators permit)
  • Drivers License

Pay

$100,000-$120,000
