As the Associate Scientific Director, Pharmacometrics, you will conduct advanced PK/PD modeling research with emphasis on disease progression modeling and implementation of mechanism-based approaches. You will support product development as Pharmacometrics Leader by defining the dose-concentration-pharmacological effect relationships of drugs using modeling and simulation methodologies from data acquired at various stages of drug research and development.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL ALSO:
- Perform basic and clinical disease research, with a focus on Immunology, Oncology/Hematology, and/or Cardiovascular/Metabolic Disease compounds (small molecules, biologics, and other novel modalities such as gene-therapy).
- Perform population PK and PK/PD analysis for key dose/regimen selections and regulatory submissions.
- Use state-of-the-art computer modeling and simulation techniques to formulate various clinical trial design scenarios and outcome analyses.
- Actively maintain relationships and collaborate with colleagues within or outside the Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics organization and J&J at large
- Establish and Maintain external collaborations with Academic groups active in a variety of therapeutic areas worldwide.
- Serve as senior technical expert for the Pharmacometrics organization in the application of advanced PK/PD and disease modeling principles, as well as in mechanism-based concepts and processes.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Clinical Pharmacology, Chemical/Biomedical Engineering or related subject area with a minimum of 8 years of pharmaceutical development experience in various aspects of modeling and simulation is required OR
A PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Clinical Pharmacology, Chemical/Biomedical Engineering or related subject area with a minimum of 6 years of pharmaceutical development experience in various aspects of modeling and simulation is preferred.
Hands-on experiences with population approach in describing PK/PD systems with various types of clinical pharmacology data is required.
Proven experience identifying research projects and successfully running them in collaboration with internal or external teams is required.
In-depth knowledge of preclinical or clinical pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, PK/PD modeling principles and statistics is required.
Experience with NONMEM, R, Matlab, Monolix and/or other modeling and simulation software is required.
Thorough knowledge of planning, conducting, evaluating and reporting PK/PD studies in R&D is required
The ability to perform basic and clinical disease research, with a focus on Oncology/Hematology, Immunology and/or Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disease compounds is preferred.
Experiences with Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) is preferred but not required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is required
Experience with biologics drug development is preferred
Experience working with cross functional teams is helpful.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $129,500 to $223,100. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
