Job Summary:

The Process Engineer provides technical coordination and support in the Melt Shop, for the areas of Scrap, Melting, Refining, Refractories, Casting, Rolling, Finishing and Heat Treatment processes by overseeing safety, environmental, process, practice and equipment monitoring, stabilization and improvements through;

Developing, training and auditing of operating procedures.

Processing sample and data collection and interpretation.

Implementation of new technology.

Technical training and development of operations personnel.

Supporting process improvement and optimization.

Technical Studies to support CAPEX investments.

Implementing Best Practices.

Developing and executing Annual Action Plans.

Participating in Technical Committees and benchmarking.

Perform Failure Analysis

This position is primarily responsible for developing, refining, and communicating the strategies and operating information needed to optimize productivity while ensuring the efficient and cost effective production of the final product in our Melt Shop Operations. The Process Engineer shall prepare and/or review operation of equipment. This will include the need to collect all data sheets, diagrams, and flow charts needed for the correct and efficient, interpret and extrapolate data from the production process in order to monitor current performance against established practices and make recommendations on how to improve efficiencies for the future. The incumbent must work in close cooperation with department supervisors and appropriate maintenance and operations personnel to ensure correct and proper operation of all related equipment to obtain the desired production, safety, and quality levels as needed.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Must have a four-year college degree in Engineering or Material Science (Metallurgical Engineer preferred)
  • Must have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Budgeting and Good Financial Acumen
  • Must be able to apply engineering fundamentals to problem solving and continuous improvement efforts of production and maximize the efficiency of the overall department operation.

Desired Skills:

  • Steel manufacturing experience (Melt Shop experience is a plus)
  • Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
  • SAP Experience
  • MS Office (Advanced Excel preferred)
  • Good interpersonal skills to deal with a variety of people from different backgrounds
  • Results oriented
  • Passion for learning new things
  • Chemical science or Metallurgical knowledge

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $74,179.75 - $142,468.80 per year
