POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Site Director, the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will generally be responsible studying the behavior of Learners (students), creating strategies and plans to help improve or change behaviors that can be problematic in a learning environment. The BCBA also provides support and direction to learners to help them reach their social, academic, emotional and physical potential. The BCBA will help manage issues such as stress or anger in healthier ways or achieve personal behavior goals and in accordance with an Individual Education Plan.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilizing their expertise in behavior analysis, consult and advise with IEP teams and general education in planning.
  • Attend IEP meeting where applicable.
  • Observe learner behaviors within the classroom.
  • Make strategies and plans for individual learners to ensure learning is accessible.
  • Use methods to correct, reduce, or manage aggressive, harmful and anti-social behaviors.
  • Work in collaboration with the general education facilitators to establish support systems for all learners.
  • Understand and address the unique social-emotional needs of individual students.
  • Work collaboratively with the Student Support Team and other staff to ensure student success.
  • Coordinate and implement dissemination of information to students, parents, and community members pertaining to mental health and wellness.
  • Maintain student records regarding minutes as required by IEPs.
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development activities provided by the school and self-selected professional growth activities.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide ongoing support and actively collaborate with the Student Support Team to ensure that the mission, vision, values and philosophy is clearly understood and carried out.
  • Represent the Organization in a positive and professional manner in all interactions and communications.
  • Follow and actively participate in development of all guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development activities and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Perform other responsibilities as defined by the School Leadership team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills exchanging information, both verbal and written. (In Person/Telephone/Computer)
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions.
  • Vehicle operation for transportation purposes between worksites.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • May encounter outdoor elements (>90)/(<60) temperatures, precipitation and/or wind.
  • Ability to work in situations involving the need to make informed and quick decisions.
  • Ability to train and delegate as needed in mentoring situations.
  • Reading detailed documentation and analyzing data sets.
  • Writing professionally both by hand and utilizing computer software.
  • Speak in public settings, including virtual collaborations with more than one person.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others.
  • Very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness.
  • Thrive in a collaborative, team based and fast-paced environment.
  • Be passionate and supportive of mission and vision as well as have a strong desire to make a difference for the future of all iLEAD Schools.
  • Dealing and navigating professionally through high-stress situations.
  • Graduate Degree (e.g., master's or doctoral) in behavior analysis, education, or psychology from a qualifying institution.
  • BCBA Certification is required.
  • Work well with children and communicate effectively.
  • Exercise tact, patience, kindness and positive attitude.
  • Must possess and maintain a standard of moral character and behavior to serve as an effective role model for learners.
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task.
  • Ability to cooperate successfully as a member of a team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of learners and their records.
