The YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley has an excellent advancement opportunity for an up and coming Associate Executive Director or Senior Program Director! We are currently seeking a results driven leader with demonstrated impact to oversee 2 branch locations as a Branch Executive. These two locations have a unique common interest - they both have direct partnerships and share resources with two local high schools.
Since 1858, the YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley has been an integral part of the Quad Cities area. With 6 branches, numerous child care locations and Camp Abe Lincoln, we continue to grow and strengthen the community to bring about positive change. The Quad Cities area, on the Mississippi River, is home to a more than 27,000 businesses including John Deere World Headquarters, Alcoa, Kraft, Exelon and a major military installation - the Rock Island Arsenal. The qualified candidate will possess at a minimum:
> Demonstrated board/volunteer development.
> Established fundraising experience.
> Three years experience with staff supervision and development
> Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or business related field required.
> Three or more years of YMCA membership management and customer service preferred.
> Ability to make solid relations and build on current collaborations with school partners and other community entities
> Demonstrated skill in all areas of operational management, non-profit management preferred.
The Branch Executive will create, implement, manage and model systems and practices that support extraordinary member/participant experiences. The primary goal is to build a relationship-based membership and volunteers that move members/participants along a continuum from a casual connection to a committed level through increased involvement.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for supervision of Child Watch, Member Services, and Custodial staff. Responsible for co-supervision of the assigned branch Program Directors for Aquatics and Youth Development.
- Bachelor's Degree in business, recreation or other related field required.
- Three or more years of management experience, preferably with a YMCA or non-profit
- Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budgets, marketing and public relations, and program development.
- Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, lift up to ten pounds of weight, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job includes close and distance vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. This position usually works in an office environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces. This position works a standard work week, but additionally will often work evening, weekend, and additional hours.
Serve as role model to members and Y staff and, at all times lives the mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement.
2. Recruit, develop, support and engage the assigned branch Advisory Board volunteers with assistance and coordination of the COO.
3. Participate in and solicit others to participate in the branch Annual Campaign in addition to oversight of special fundraising events. Coordinate campaign efforts with a volunteer campaign director.
4. Develop, model and integrate procedures and practices that encourage and sustain relationships with and among members/participants.
5. Assist with the training of member services/welcome center and custodial staff.
6. Evaluate the collection, monitoring and analysis of data on the effectiveness of member engagement, connection and involvement and ensure it is occurring on an on-going basis.
7. Work in conjunction with staff teams to continually improve member/participant engagement and experience.
8. Equip staff with the on-going knowledge, skills and abilities to engage, support and involve members/participants.
9. Create and continually monitors systems that enable staff to successfully respond to the wants, needs and interests of members and health seekers.
10. Assist in the process of program/service improvements and innovations that respond to the ever-evolving needs of members/participants.
11. Participate in association strategy teams related to deepening the understanding of the health seeker, successful relationship building and high quality member experience.
12. Establish a high-profile recognition plan that celebrates staff efforts and their ability to engage, connect with, involve and support members/participants.
13. Develop strategic plan for branch in conjunction with annual budget process.
14. Develop, monitor and achieve membership and program budgets, sales goals, and participant goals for branch in accordance with association guidelines and practices.
15. In conjunction with the corporate office (or COO), develop a member experience marketing plan and implement according to established timeline and budget constraints.
16. Attend and engage in community functions and events to promote the YMCA, including mission, programs and services.
17. Responsible for effectively communicating applicable information to members and staff.
18. Maintain and update information presented to the membership community within the facility. This includes but is not limited to, bulletin boards, newsletters, flyers, posters, banners, and calendars.
19. Monitor and update the website in conjunction with the corporate office.
20. Hire, train and supervise Child Watch Attendants, Child Watch Coordinator, Member Services Coordinator, Member Services Representatives, and Evening/Weekend (MOD) Member Representatives.
21. Assure facility and surrounding outdoor areas are clean, attractive and inviting in coordination with the Head Maintenance Director and COO.
22. Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements.
23. Adherence to all policies and procedures of the YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley.
24. Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations including knowledge of emergency
procedures and location of emergency equipment.
25. Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings.
26. All other duties as assigned by the COO.

*Note: If not currently certified, must obtain certification within 30 days of hire. All the above certification training programs are provided by the YMCA staff.
