Job Summary:

The Brand Development Brand Manager will be responsible for the development of new and innovative products that will delight consumers, shoppers and customers and ultimately contribute to the shaping of long-term innovation strategy. New product commercialization, business management and trend analysis are essential responsibilities in this role. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to building various brands in the Materne portfolio and owning projects that will contribute to business performance.

Job Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • New Product Commercialization
    • Lead renovation projects that drive cost savings, optimize the portfolio or enhance retail shelf presence
    • Lead development of approved new product concepts from opportunity assessment through launch within our internal stage gate process
    • Own internal artwork prioritization by partnering with key internal and external teams to keep quantity, flow and prioritization of artwork in the pipeline in order
    • Lead cross-functional teams (R&D / purchasing / finance / insights / creative) and foster team unity to drive projects following our company processes
    • Partner with project management organization to execute innovation projects against timeline and KPIs
    • Partner with R&D to develop optimal product/package bundle to meet consumer needs
    • Develop and test concepts based on consumer insights / market research
    • Develop customer presentation materials for new product review meetings
    • Collaborate with creative design, brand marketing and sales teams to ensure successful execution of new product launches
  • Business Management
    • Work with team to define ongoing pipeline of ideas and projects to drive growth
    • Present new products and activities to Senior Management for review
    • Lead and direct activities with outside suppliers including agency partners
    • Collaboration with sales strategy in the customer selling process to deliver marketplace execution ideas and develop presentations for key accounts
  • Category, Customer and Consumer Trend Analysis
    • Maps category space, identifies trends and insights and determines opportunities and scope for new product ideas
    • Manage the external and internal assessments of the business environment, competitors, customers, market trends, and the implications to the business

Key Performance Indicator (KPI):

  • OTIF (on time, in full) in all projects (new product development, flavor/pack extension, portfolio optimization)
  • Deliver high performing concepts that deliver strong purchase intent scores
  • Deliver an innovation pipeline that is margin accretive and incremental to the portfolio

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION

  • BS/BA Degree in Marketing or other related areas
  • MBA preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience; 1+ years of innovation experience within the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry is required
  • Food, beverage, and/or nutrition experience is strongly preferred
  • Analytical experience with scanner data (Nielsen or IRI) is required
  • New product commercialization experience is required

  • Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Strong verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to effectively interface at all levels
  • Strong organization and project management skills to manage cross functional projects with demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work 8 hours per day and be on his/her feet for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in normal office conditions
  • Must be able to travel domestically (10%)

Base Salary $130,000-$150,000/year
