Job description
Conducts business/occupation tax, excise tax, and transportation fee audits as well as compliance audits of businesses operating in Augusta Richmond County, Georgia. Works with business owners, CPA firms, attorneys, employees, as well as internal and external customers.
- Performs business/occupation tax, excise tax, transportation, and tourism fees as well as compliance audits of businesses operating in Augusta Richmond County.
- Assists in verifying and analyzing transactions while performing examinations of assigned audit activities.
- Prepares working papers and summarizes data from assigned audit segments and reports audit findings to Audit Manager.
- Assists Audit Manager with monitoring audit processes regarding excise taxes and business/occupation taxes as well as assists in special projects.
- Assists Audit Manager with recovery management of unreported and underreported excise taxes and transportation fees.
- Assists Audit Manager with drafting policy for business, license, and occupational tax.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE :
- Performs business/occupation tax, excise tax, transportation fee and compliance audits that reflect the results of work performed in accordance with (GAAP & GAAS) for the audit coverage of businesses in Augusta Richmond County.
- Reports audit findings to Audit Manager.
- Assists Audit Manager with the billing and recovery of unreported and underreported excise taxes and transportation fees.
- Considerable knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
- Proficiency in accounting, auditing, and organizational communication as well as Microsoft Office Suite and calculator.
- Familiarity with Georgia State laws and Augusta-Richmond County codes and ordinances.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
License: Possession of a valid driver's license with good driving history. If State license is other than Georgia or South Carolina, applicant must obtain a license in Georgia or South Carolina within 30 days of employment.
