Job description

The Food Service Worker will perform food preparation duties such as preparing fruit and vegetables and serve customers swiftly and efficiently. You will assist in preparing hot items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and serve these as well as grab-and-go items. You will maintain knowledge of our products and provide customers with correct information where necessary.

The Food Service Worker I will be given specific responsibilities commensurate with their abilities.

● Reports to Cafe Manager

Essential Job Duties are but not limited to:

● Performing preparation duties such as rinsing, peeling, slicing, and dicing fruit and vegetables.

● Replenishes food items and ensure products is stocked to appropriate levels

● Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guests, customers, staff, faculty, students, and co-workers, etc.

● Ensures security of company assets

● Wash and sterilize food trays, dishes, and utensils

● Breaks down, cleans, and sanitizes workstations

● Sets up workstations including prep tables, service counters, hot wells, steam tables, etc.

● Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures

● Wrapping, date-labeling, and storing food items.

● Cleaning and organizing work areas, equipment, utensils, and service stations.

● Following established recipes to prepare menu items.

● Following guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control.

● Order supplies and received delivery storing properly

● Cleaning, washing and sterilizing tables, chairs, and dining area.

● Taking out trash

● Sweeping, mopping the dining area, and cleaning restrooms.

● Service guest at drink stations

● Serving customers in a fast, efficient, and friendly manner.

● Ability to run point of sale cash register, credit cards and reconciliation at end of day.

● Complying with relevant safety, hygiene, and service standards and procedures

● May be asked to work outside of the assigned schedule for necessary job duties.

● Participate in our annual Discovery Day (held annually on a Saturday in April)

Requirements:

Education:

● High School Diploma/GED preferred

● Ability to read and write

Experience:

● Six(6) months of food service experience preferred.

● Food handlers permit within 6 months of hire

● Computer skills are a must

● Ability to count money and work cash register

● Timekeeping equipment

● Ability to learn or have knowledge of standards health and regulations as they apply to food preparation and service

Physical Abilities:

● Requires occasional, lifting, caring, pushing, pulling of up to 50 lbs.

● Ability to workdays, nights, weekends, and holidays.

● Moderate dexterity in operation machinery, tools, or office equipment

● Standing or walking some of the time, reaching overhead

● Working with hands in hot water and chemicals

● May involve exposure to extreme heat and cold

● Must be able to properly lift heavy items from a stooping position

● Requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities, color perception, depth perception and texture perception

Interpersonal Abilities:

● Ability to work in a professional manner with a diverse group of people

● Valid State Driver’s license

● Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

● Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

● Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

● Work well within a skilled team and independently.

● Ability to meet deadlines with limited oversight

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour
