Job Description

Title: Campus Foreman

Location: Facility Services

Terms of Employment: 12 Months

Reports To: Environmental Services Coordinator

Job Goal: To ensure all campuses are developed and maintained in a manner that is safe, inviting, and enhances the public image and instructional environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Evaluates, recommends, and oversees all outdoor school campus infrastructure maintenance and improvements, including but not limited to, playgrounds, landscaping, utilities, stormwater retention facilities, mobile classroom units, athletic venues, bathroom and concession facilities, parking lots, ADA accessibility, etc.
• Works in conjunction with and makes recommendations to coordinators, directors, and other supervisors to implement plans and administer assigned projects.
• Prepares bid documents as needed, solicits for quotes, and manages projects.
• Collaborates and works in conjunction with the Grounds Maintenance Foreman and other department Foreman as needed.
• Contributes and offers insight to the design of new schools or additions to existing for responsible areas.
• Ensures responsible areas maintain compliance with applicable regulations, codes, local authorities, and school board policies.
• Maintains records, work orders, inventory, budget, and expenditures of responsible areas.
• Promotes and ensures minority and historically underutilized business participation.
• Demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement, supports and encourages core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, customer-driven, and valuing diversity.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• High School diploma required and associates degree or equivalent preferred.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver's License.
• Relevant experience and working knowledge necessary to complete the duties of the position.
• Experience in construction administration and overseeing projects through to a successful completion.
• Experience and ability to operate construction equipment as needed to perform the duties of the position.
• Possess a Certified Playground Safety Inspector certification or the ability to obtain
• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing and establish working relationships with all school personnel, public officials, and contract vendors.
• Ability to negotiate with tact and professionalism to ensure maximum value for expenditures.
• Ability to analyze data, compile reports, and identify issues in order to make recommendations.
• Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, hazards.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety hazards, and safety practices.
• Experience in a leadership position.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to perform basic operational functions, medium/heavy lifting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and negligible amount of force to constantly lift, carry, push, or move objects.
• Must be able to climb ladders and be capable of walking, climbing, driving distances to complete the tast required of the position.
• Ability to work flexible hours to perform the duties of the position or during an emergency.
