Job Overview

Performs carpentry and related duties necessary to build and maintain wooden structures, components, and equipment such as crates, bins, benches, counters, partitions, walls, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trim. Maintains and repairs load bearing walls, non-load bearing walls, partitions, stairs, and sub-floors. Repairs and installs sheathing, furring, joists, and purlins, as well as studs, drywall, door frames, doors, windows, and structural trim. Repairs roofs to include shingles, flashing, vents, sheeting, facias, soffits, gutters, downspouts, chimneys, and all required protrusions. Uses both metal and wood building materials interchangeably.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

• Performs maintenance, repairs, and new construction work on items such as foundations, concrete form work, interior walls, exterior walls, all types of exterior siding, all floor covering, sub-floors, catwalks, commercial doors/frames, windows, partitions, sheetrock hanging-finishing, painting, millwork installation, ceiling grid/tile installations and all other building components as necessary.
• Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, models and verbal and written instructions.
• Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
• Plans, organizes work, and meets all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.
• Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
• Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
• Inspects and diagnoses problems to determine corrective repairs.
• Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
• Performs periodic stock inventories and prepares material requisitions for replacement items as required.
• Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
• Operates Government or company-owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
• Performs various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
• Assists and supports other trade groups and/or department staff in daily operations as needed or directed.
• Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
• Ability to complete tasks utilizing a written schedule.
• Understands air quality standards and how to apply them.
• Ability to work alternate shifts as required.
• Performs other related work as assigned.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Minimum of five (5) years as carpenter or similar roles.
• Five (5) years’ experience preparing and enforcing safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity.
• Valid state driver’s license.
