Case Manager for the Bering Sea Campus with the Department of Business and Economic Development
POSITION LOCATION:
This position will be based in St. Paul Island, Alaska.
POSITION CLASSIFICATION, HOURS & WORK SCHEDULE:
Permanent Appointment; Full-time; 40 hours per week; Hours may vary.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Division Manager the case manager performs a full range of case management duties. Working in the Pribilof School District, the Case Manager will provide education and support for students (K-12). The Case Manager will provide the facilitation and critical data collection which includes the development of goals, milestones, and student needs through creating an Individual Development Plant (IDP) and completing intake forms with the students. The goal of the program is to enrich students, to accelerate their educational growth and access to higher educational opportunities, and to develop their skills which are necessary to access educational or career opportunities in college or career opportunities. This position involves contact with multiple project partners management, employees, and the public. This position is under the functional direction of the Executive Director and Bering Sea Campus Project Director.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCITONS:
The following are essential job responsibilities and functions in each performance area of a Case Manager:
Administrative Actions completed prior to execution of duties
· Completes review and understanding of contract terms and conditions.
· Coordination with ACSPI departments and staff on project scope of services including policies and procedures.
· Coordination with Ilisagvik College (IC) and Pribilof School District (PSD) staff and administrators.
Case Manager Duties & Relationships
The following are essential job responsibilities and functions in each performance area of the Case Manager:
Works with students to explore options for a successful future during the course by assisting them to identify their individual goals, write an education plan and access scholarships, opportunities, apply for jobs and find gainful and lasting employment.
· Creates a database to track participant information and progress. The information in the database will be populated by:
a. Collecting essential baseline demographic data for all program participants, these data categories will be outlined in the database provided to the case manager.
b. Updating information in the database as new data are collected to track participant outcomes.
c. Completing individual case/career plans with clear goals/outcomes for each program participant (personal and professional goals/outcomes) and keep case plans updated through active feedback from and constant contact with program participants.
d. Utilizing the information in case plans to assist program participants in seeking academic assistance/tutoring, finding financial supports, conducting job, scholarship, training searches, seeking extracurricular activities that will improve personal health and well-being.
· Identifies individuals (K-12) not actively enrolled in a degree program or who do not have a GED or high school degree through the database and contact these individuals to provide financial and case management or other necessary resources to help them complete their GED or diploma. Creates a more active, efficient and effective method in seeking out, identifying and supporting individuals who need assistance by providing open office hours during which participants can meet with the case manager and review needs.
· Commits to learning campus policies and procedures, becoming familiar with course and materials.
· Working with project staff and partners, reviews, analyzes, and evaluates the histories, backgrounds, and instructional levels of the students in designing instructional programs to meet individual educational needs.
· Maintains appropriate standards of student behavior to standards established by the Pribilof School District (PSD). Works with the Pribilof School District Superintendent and staff to learn and to apply policies, procedures, and methodologies.
· Working with ACSPI and BSC staff, reviews, analyzes, evaluates, and reports student academic, social, and emotional growth, and enters the data (as specified by ACSPI and BSC staff), Periodic progress reporting (frequency to be set) to the Project managers, the BSC Campus Director and the Pribilof School District is required.
· Counsels, confers with, and communicates with BBC campus staff, parents, School District, and Tribal Government regarding student progress and potential improvements in the educational program.
· Performs a variety of non-instructional duties including student supervision, consultation activities, and ongoing student support.
· Interacts with students and parents to problem solve when appropriate. Documents complaints and develops an appropriate course of action. Reports problems to Tribal, DHHS, and Pribilof School District management for resolution when they cannot be immediately resolved.
· Works collaboratively by building bridges and creating rapport with team members within departments and across the organizations.

Completion of On Site Case Management during Course
· Debriefs Project Partners and ACSPI personnel.
Technical Deliverables
The Case Manager shall prepare and submit to the Division Manager for the ACSPI’s approval:
· Interim daily or weekly communication as necessary with ACSPI staff, School District, and BSC staff.
· Monthly Progress Reports and Invoices (see next Section for instructions).
· All reports, documents, and other information required under the grant conditions.
· Assists in preparing a final report at the end of the semester / education program including success, student progress, recommended program improvements, student statistics, and recommended future continuation of the education program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
2. Must possess a valid Alaska Driver’s License or obtain a license within 30 days of hire.
3. Must possess current First Aid/CPR certification or obtain within one (1) year of date of hire.
4. Must have a high school diploma or GED.
5. Must be free of any felony convictions.
6. Must be free of misdemeanor convictions involving children or youth.
7. Must be free of misdemeanor convictions involving domestic violence.
8. Must be free of any charges in the last six (6) years of driving while intoxicated or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
9. Must agree to be subject to a thorough background investigation and personal interviews by the ACSPI Human Resources and DCSP personnel, including be subject to fingerprinting and a search of local, state, and national records and finger print files.
10. Must be free from illegal drug use, or abuse of legal drugs that impair mental or physical performance, for the past five (5) years, as determined by interview and medical testing.
11. Must abide by the ACSPI’s alcohol and drug free work place policies and submit to a pre-employment alcohol and drug test.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
This is a hourly position with an hourly compensation rate of $24.00-$34.00 per hour, depending on education, experience, and skills. Benefits include, Paid Time Off (Starting at 6 hours per pay period/156 hours per year); 16 Paid Holidays; Health Benefits; 401K; Employee Education Assistance.
