The Opportunity: CATERING SALES MANAGER

The RK Group is a modern, fresh and upscale approach to catering & events in Louisville, KY.

We are searching for energetic, outgoing and dedicated Catering Sales Manager to join our growing catering team! If you are looking to join a dynamic team in an exciting environment at the Kentucky Derby Museum, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities of the CATERING SALES MANAGER:

  • management of booked events in its entirety; from initial proposal to final billing
  • build custom menus, event set-up and service details to fit client’s taste and style
  • must be a self-starter; driven to create relationships, generate new leads and expand upon clientele list
  • possess a sense of urgency; 12-24 hour follow up on all phone and email communications
  • work with internal and external rental/production company to assist clients with their décor needs
  • utilize Social Tables software to create room diagrams and Reserve Interactive software to create event orders
  • coordinate with the operations and kitchen department for special requests and event logistics
  • collect and process event deposits/payments, ensuring client billing information is accurate; send final invoices to accounting and client
  • attend industry events, meetings & open houses
  • research food and event trends and generate tools to breed innovation
  • be accessible to clients regarding functions, take any appropriate actions to ensure satisfaction
  • flexible work schedule including evening and weekends
  • experience with marketing or social media would be beneficial but not required.

You may be called upon from time to time to perform other duties that may not be included in your job description at management’s discretion.

Requirement of the CATERING SALES MANAGER:

  • must possess strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment
  • strong organizational skills and detailed follow through in all areas
  • a minimum of 2 years of experience in the event industry
  • must have strong knowledge of food, wine & spirits
  • excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • exemplary attention to detail
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with CRM software
  • ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and confidentiality at all times
  • ability to multitask and work on broad variety of projects
  • professional demeanor with the ability to interact with all types of clients

Ideal Catering Sales Manager Candidate will have:

  • a minimum of 3 years of experience in catering sales, venue sales, wedding/corporate planning, or event production (off-site experience preferred)
  • prior experience in restaurant and/or hotel operations
  • college degree in hospitality or hotel/restaurant management
  • passion for Food & Beverage, event and hospitality industry
  • certifications related to the event industry (i.e. food handlers, TABC, CMP, CSEP, CWP, etc.)
  • experience with CRM + POS systems
