Ceramics Studio Technician

Summary:
The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) is seeking a highly qualified studio technician in ceramics to work at CSMA’s primary Finn Center site in Mountain View.
This is a part-time position with 4 hours per day work on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The schedule is flexible between 9am to 3:30pm.
This position begin in January 2023 and will be reporting to the Visual Arts Program Manager.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and support operations of a busy ceramics studio, including inventory and maintenance of tools and supplies.
- Perform basic kiln operations, including loading and unloading of student work, firing kilns.
- Perform regular studio organization and maintenance, adhering to studio operational and safety protocols, including mixing dry glazes, maintaining clay waste and recycling clay bodies.
- Work closely with program staff to identify supply needs and ensure efficient operations of the ceramics program.
- Demonstrate a commitment to CSMA’s mission and values.
Skills and Qualifications
- 2+ yrs experience with ceramics studio protocols.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Competent computer skills, particularly MS Office and GSuite.
Physical Demands
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
