About the Job

Family Centered Services of Alaska is searching for a Certified Teacher to teach students in the Elementary Youth Education Support Services (YESS) program. The YESS program provides integrated day treatment (behavioral health) and education services to students referred by the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. Students receive the benefits of low child to staff ratios that allows for behavior alternation to prepare students to return to a public-school setting.

The Certified Teacher is responsible for directing teaching services such as tutoring, test development, administration, assigning of grades, field trip planning and supervision, and supervision of those students on independent study. The Certified Teacher collaborates with other teaching, clinical staff, and the Program Manager. The Certified Teacher, in coordination with the Special Education Teacher, implements the academic curriculum by creating plans and reviewing the plans of Non-Certified teacher and aides. This position requires the proficient use of the company’s Electronic Medical Records System.

Pay/Salary

Salary range is not limited to the range posted on this ad. Salary is based on experience and education credentials related to the field.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm.

Role Responsibilities Include:

1. Provide direct group and individualized instructions in all curriculum areas: GED preparation, and individualized education program goals and objectives.

2. Designs and administers both group and individualized achievement tests in all achievement areas, including English, Math, Science, and History. Career education and other aptitude/interest inventories, basic achievement areas including reading, spelling, vocational aptitude, and interest.

3. Implements the curriculum by reviewing the FNSB School District curriculum documents along with IEP goals.

4. Administers time out procedures and provide crisis intervention as needed.

5. Become completely familiar with each student's Individualized Treatment Plan and implement activities.

6. Accurately observe student behavior and assist in developing or modifying behavior plans as needed.

7. Assist in planning and implementing recreational and/or arts and crafts activities.

8. Participate with program manager and teaching staff with the evaluation of transcripts and school records of newly admitted students to determine their educational needs.

9. If designated, serves as the Program Manager in their absence.

10. Attend staff meetings, trainings, teleconferences, IEP meetings, child study team meetings, Treatment Team meetings, and court hearings.

11. Communicate with community professionals as required, including police, medical personnel, parents, and social service agency personnel, etc.

12. Maintain daily reporting and charting on students.

13. Completes incident reports.

14. Record administration of medications.

15. Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, justice, guidance and counseling, or other human service area.

2. Current Alaska teaching certificate for applicable age group

3. Able to work as part of a treatment team.

4. Physical ability to employ verbal and physical aggression control techniques after being certified.

5. Current Alaska driver's license, driving record, vehicle insurance, and seven years driving experience.

6. Potential employees must undergo a fingerprint check, which shows that their record is free from criminal convictions, which, in the judgment of FCSA, would adversely affect their ability to work safely with children.

7. Current first aid and CPR certificates.

This position is a driving position. Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position.

All applicants must be at least 21 years of age due to State of AK regulations and must pass a State of AK Background Check. All employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a medical or religious exemption prior to date of hire.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,015.00 - $58,350.00 per year
