Job Summary:
Vanderbilt Health - Executive Search Team is seeking a Chief of Staff position in our Center for Patient and Professional Advocacy, a physician risk management and consulting business. This role is a high-visibility strategic partner who supports the President with effective decision-making, project management, and execution of strategic initiatives across all areas of the business. The Chief of Staff provides the organizational and communication framework for customers, employees, and leadership team members to implement the President’s vision and achieve annual goals. The Chief of Staff also focuses on long-term strategy, planning and projects to ensure the growth and success of the organization. The position reports to the President of CPPA.
Department Summary:
Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), Center for Patient and Professional Advocacy (CPPA) provides education, research, data, tools, and effective processes for promoting professional accountability for our clients throughout the United States and abroad. Our proprietary systems — PARS®(Patient Advocacy Reporting System) and CORSsm (Co-worker Observation Reporting System) — use local and national data and benchmarks to identify and address medical professionals who model behavior inconsistent with their health system's core values and professional expectations. CPPA research has shown that these same professionals are associated with excessive malpractice risk and avoidable medical complications. CPPA has partnered with more than 200 health systems and provides tools and processes for nearly 190,000 healthcare professionals through our programs. We conduct nearly 300 training events throughout the world each year. CPPA is dedicated to supporting our clients' core values and professional expectations as the foundation for safe, quality healthcare, and high reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives, facilitate special projects, and ensure action items are executed on behalf of the President
- Operate at a tactical, strategic, and operational level, organizing teams and integration of all appropriate channels and sub-channels involved in execution and delivery of initiatives. Manage against budget, talent and timeline goals to deliver results.
- Maintain strong understanding of industry, market, competitive landscape and competing businesses, products
- Engage with operational leadership to plan key hires and organization evolution
- Work with product leads to plan & execute go-to-market strategies
- Act as an extension of the President and information funnel, filter, and facilitator with internal and external stakeholders
- Promote team integration as well as cross-functional communication and collaboration
- Manage key relationships and build a process to track and nurture key stakeholders, investors, and clients
- Track high priority initiatives for the President to identify potential obstacles
- Develop subordinate talent through demonstration of best practices, project management and business development skills, tools & frameworks, etc.
- Develop organizational culture by setting positive examples. Foster teaming behaviors.
Master’s Degree or equivalent professional certifications in relevant fields
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years executive leadership and/or management consulting leadership experience
- Proven success delivering multiple large scale system, process, and business projects
- Proven success in working with healthcare delivery system clients and building strong relationships
- Ability to establish immediate credibility with team members, business leader and within the company; can build consensus and achieve goals through influence
- Excellent interpersonal/communication and team building skills
- Creative thinking and ability to seek innovative solutions to complex technical/business problems
- Superior presentation skills and ability to deliver executive level presentations and communications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products
