This is the perfect position for older high school students/college students looking for summer employment! All staff get a free YMCA membership!

Position Summary:

The person selected for this position must have a warm, nurturing and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well with children and be willing to fulfill her/his responsibilities in accordance with the Center’s philosophy. Because we work in teams, this person must have a mature attitude that allows her/him to communicate effectively, problem solve and anticipate the needs of children and fellow co-workers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• 1. Oversee large group of Multi-age children
• 2. Keep children within sight and sound at all times
• 3. Assist in implementing activities
• 4. Provide careful, attentive, supervision at all times
• 5. Assume responsibility for the safety of the children at all times
• 6. Establish and maintain positive relationships and open communication with other staff, parents, and children
• 7. Meet the individual needs of all children, including but not limited too:
• A. Changing diapers/ bathroom assistance
• B. Assisting with bottles for infants
• C. Playing/ interacting with children
• 8. Ensure daily cleaning and maintenance of the space
• 9. Other duties set forth by the Childcare Services Director

Qualifications
A. Must be able to communicate verbally in such a way as to be easily understood by children, other staff, and parents

B. Customer service aptitude

C. Passion for the Y’s cause

D. Prior Experience parenting, babysitting, or otherwise interacting with and caring for groups of children and babies is preferred.

A. The ability to Crouch, Stoop, kneel, jump, reach, and move quickly

A. Ability to easily lift 30 lbs

B. At least 16 years of age, over 18 preferred

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $9.00 - $12.00 per hour
