Summary

Purpose of the Position
Support the vision, mission and guiding principles of Timberlake United Methodist Church (TUMC) while working with children and their families. The primary focus is to care for infants until age 4 years olds in a nursery setting. The position is supervised by the Nursery Director and the Minister to Children. Ultimately the Staff/Parish Relations Committee oversees all activities regarding personnel accountability and performance. He/she will adhere to the policies spelled out in the TUMC Employees Handbook and agree to abide by the Staff Covenant.

This position requires a person with a committed Christian faith in line with the United Methodist Church, a person with a heart for the church's vision of ministry to the members of TUMC and to non-members. Because this position works with infants and children, it affects parents as well and the outcomes will reflect on the entire church congregation and public acceptance. This position must work in harmony with other church staff.

Duties

Major Duties
1. Provide a safe and loving environment for infants through age 4
2. Care for infants through preschoolers on Sunday morning during Worship and other ministry events offered throughout the year as needed
3. Ensure the nursery rooms are safe and clean before and after all nursery events
4. Change diapers or help with potty as needed
5. Communicate clearly any concerns about a child to the parents
6. Feed children as needed and specified by parents
7. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Required by the Position
1. Verbal and written skills
2. Safe Sanctuaries trained
3. CPR/First Aid trained
4. Experience in caring for children and infants
