Nuvance Health is a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center, and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practice locations including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through our affiliates including the Thompson House, for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.
Summary:
The Clinical Engineering Technician provides repair service and maintenance on all medical equipment used to provide patient care. S/he coordinates services to ensure compliance with the Joint Commission and government regulations to provide continuity of operations.
Responsibilities:
1. Participate directly in maintenance, calibration, and repair services on biomedical equipment utilizing technical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills to ensure consistent & effective operating conditions.
2. Complete assignments and documentation in compliance with the Joint Commission & government regulations, as well as, the continuity of operations to our customers.
3. Participate directly in the selection, evaluation, and risk assessment of clinical equipment to be used at the hospital, system affiliates, & medical practices which are supported by the clinical engineering group.
4. Maintain a central repository of equipment records in the equipment management database to keep information up-to-date and accessible and in compliance with Joint Commission & government regulations.
5. Provide service on routine clinical and biomedical equipment which requires a strong working knowledge & technical skills and/or in PC Network Wireless Services.
6. Provide assistance and cross training to the other Clinical Engineering Technicians in performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, & repair of biomedical equipment.
7. Provide in-service training to the hospital staff on safe and proper equipment setup & usage.
8. Develop professional skills by attending continuing education sessions and attaining personal qualification standards to ensure the technical competency & teamwork required to provide quality service.
9. Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Vocational or Technical training and/or minimum of two years medical equipment service experience and/or PC network wireless service experience.
Excellent technical knowledge of biomedical equipment preventive and corrective repair standards.
Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve equipment repairs. Knowledge of computers, electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles.
Ability to explain and demonstrate the correct operation of biomedical equipment to medical personnel.
Advanced skill with Microsoft applications.
Preferred:
Associates degree in Biomedical Electronic Technology and/or BMET certification
A+ Certification and/or Network Certification
