Position Summary & Description

This position is posted in accordance with the (SCUPA) Collective Bargaining Unit.

The communications and event coordinator position develops, organizes, consults on, and executes a wide variety of special university events and programs including new events and annual events serving multiple divisions and external constituents as assigned by Director of Engagement and University Events. In addition, this position assists in the development of various divisional communication pieces included but not limited to, donor acknowledgement letters, ThankView stewardship videos, compiling information for major gift press releases, and monthly communications. This position will also contribute to overseeing daily operations and office functions including procedural decisions, coordination, and facilitation of communications/information among internal unit personnel as well as external constituents, management of student workers, and analyzes a myriad of data to make actual and informed decisions/recommendations.

Position Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • 2 years of experience in event planning/program coordination

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in a higher education environment

Essential Functions

The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:

  • Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
  • Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public
  • Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment.
  • Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
  • Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
