JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Compliance Assistant

LOCATION: Red Cliff Tribal Administration Office

WAGE: $15.45 per hour, 40 hours/week, plus benefits

SUPERVISOR: Compliance/Internal Audit Officer

JOB SUMMARY: The Compliance Assistant will perform supporting administrative tasks as directed by the Compliance/Internal Audit Officer. This position assists with ensuring that the eCivis grant management system is up to date with the required Tribal Government grant documentation and information. The Compliance Assistant must always perform in a professional and confidential manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform vendor file reviews to assure documentation is complete for various projects as required.
  • Update the Tribe’s grant management software with grant award information, report dates, application dates, and upload documentation to maintain the integrity of system information.
  • Request missing documentation or information from Division Administrators, Tribal Administrative staff, or Finance departments.
  • Track and follow-up with internal contacts for timely receipt of documentation to complete files on the grant management system.
  • Perform supportive clerical duties as requested.
  • Assist with coordinating staff training related to compliance.
  • Assist with program/department audits.

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: None

KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Native American Tribes and/or previous work experience preferred. Must have technical ability to use Microsoft Office applications and learn new software systems. Must have the ability to use general office equipment. Must comprehend detail-orientated materials and understand complex documents, including grant guidelines, terms, and conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED with experience in an office environment.
  • Strong computer, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with MS Office and general office equipment.
  • Must be detail orientated, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, organize, and schedule priorities efficiently and manage multiple projects on time.
  • Must have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and carry through procedures as directed.

PERSONAL CONTACTS: Daily contact with the Compliance/Internal Audit Officer, division directors, finance, and Tribal administration staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The duties assigned to this position may involve bending, lifting and carrying, and sitting for prolonged times. May need to lift to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment will mainly consist of work in an office setting within the Tribal Office building. All Tribal Buildings are smoke-free.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to attend training both in and out of state related to compliance as requested by supervisor.
