Construction Superintendent
Job description
Our Superintendent directs the workflow of the in-site project(s) staying consistent with the project schedule and Mid Atlantic Contracting safety and quality standards. Our Superintendent provides leadership while serving in the capacity of a liaison between project team members and costumers to promote the interest of both the business and clients in all matters. Our Superintendent will communicate project priorities to both in house crews and all subcontractors, serving as the primary leader on site for the construction project.
Requirements:Position responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Provide professional and positive onsite representation for Mid Atlantic Contracting. The superintendent is expected to engage in onsite dialogue, close observation, documentation and instruction in order to complete the construction process per all the design documents and using standard construction practices
- Submit material orders through the office in a timely manner and ensure that all materials and equipment are timely secured onsite per project plan
- Ensures and documents daily proper housekeeping as well as guaranteeing safety and health project plans are put into practice and maintained throughout the project
- Oversee the onsite construction process to include organizing the workers to make certain that they are all performing well to satisfy the construction requirement
- Mediate with inspectors and end-user on the customary requirements of the site with respect to safety, housekeeping, installation of contractual work, etc.
- Maintain and document daily quality control inspections to ensure compliance to the construction documents.
- Maintain several ongoing projects while complying with safety, quality and technical protocols and accept the responsibility of bringing a job from start to completion
- Supervise, coordinate and schedule subcontractors, vendors, inspections, material deliveries, etc.
- Monitor costs and job performance while maintaining project timelines
- Ensure required labor and equipment logs, reports, and timesheets are submitted and coded accurately
- Perform closeout, punch list, and quality management
- Enforce all safety rules, MAC Safety Standards, and local policies/procedures to provide a safe working environment.
- Recognize unsafe conditions and behaviors and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss.
- Additional duties as assigned
Essential skills and experience:
- Experience working in General Contracting in a Superintendent role leading projects ranging from $1M-$6M.
- Experience working in General Contracting in a Superintendent role on design-build projects
- Advanced knowledge of all construction disciplines (civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical)
- Experience with coordinating and sequencing subcontractor operations
- Possess the ability to work cohesively and collaboratively with customers, subcontractors, project management, and end-users
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills using various mediums of technology
- Strong computer skills; including Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects concurrently, meeting deadlines
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies
- Due to the sensitive nature of our projects and customers, candidates must successfully pass any background check associated with employment or access to sensitive, government
- Must be able to travel to the jobsite(s) as assigned
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- EM-385 certification (if not currently held, must be able to obtain certification)
- QC certification (if not currently held, must be able to obtain certification)
- Construction experience on specific Government and/or Dept of Defense projects
- Sensitive Compartmentalized Information Facility Experience preferred
- Familiarity with ICD-705 regulations preferred
Reporting to this position: Carpenters, laborers, and subcontractors assisting with the related work.
