What Is In It For You

Salary: $100,000 -145,000 depending on relevant industry experience.

A Day In The Life of a Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO)

As the Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO), you will be responsible for managing one or more security programs/activities to ensure compliance with government and company security policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions For The Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO) In Santa Ana, CA:

  • Prepares and submits routine documentation related to the company and government security compliance standards and regulations
  • Partners with security staff from various government agencies and commercial customers to ensure Ascent Aerospace’s compliance with directives and regulations and obtains rulings, interpretations, and acceptable deviations for compliance with regulations
  • Maintain the confidence of our customers in our security systems to protect information appropriately.
  • Conducts security briefings and maintains security education programs
  • Identifies program issues and implements effective solutions to identified security problems
  • Investigates security incidents and violations relating to classified programs and establishes the basis for possible disciplinary action
  • Coordinates development and implementation of corrective actions to identify problems
  • Reviews & adjusts security program requirements for efficiency and standardization
  • Communicates results of security endeavors in both verbal and written form
  • Participates in planning and preparations of new security programs, including supporting proposal efforts
  • Provides security guidance in the specified fields and acts as liaison with specific program customers and sponsors program contractual security requirements
  • Ensures accuracy of security records and files
  • Other activities as required

Required Skills, Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or related field is preferred, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a CPSO
  • Proficient knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and DoD Security Policies, Regulations, Directives, and Instructions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Personnel Security Clearance up to the Secret level and required program access with completion of a successful polygraph, as applicable
  • Must have held a DoD security clearance in the past two years and be able to attain and maintain an active Secret Clearance

  • Proficient in the ability to provide leadership using functional knowledge and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in ability to comprehend and comply with detailed procedures and apply interpersonal skills, which enable successful interface with clients, program customers, and program sponsors
  • Proficient knowledge of all security policies and procedures and ability to interpret security requirements and apply them consistently across diverse situations
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work independently and ability to prioritize, schedule, and complete multiple tasks
  • Proficient ability to display appropriate discretion and judgment
