Title: Cost Accountant/Analyst

Department : Finance

Reports to: VP of Finance

Purpose: Insure that Fernco, and its subsidiaries, have accurate standard costs and to provide necessary cost analyses

Areas of Responsibility:

• Develop and maintain direct labor, material, facility, and overhead rates
• Validate manufacturing order costing
• Develop appropriate costing variance reports
• Validate appropriate cost fields in the ERP data base that impact costing of new and existing items
• Develop, implement, and maintain costing standards in the ERP data base for new fiscal years
• Analyze customer requirements and provide recommendations to achieve profitability targets.
• Analyze operational improvements and assess the impact on costing standards, established cost rates, and profitability.
• Maintain costing simulation data in a testing environment
• Validate inventory valuations
• Perform various cost analyses and simulations as required
• Assist in the budgeting process
• Coordinate month end and year end procedure with all departments
• Validate GL interface transactions from cost related ERP fields to the general ledger
• Document and maintain work procedures and instructions
• Maintain general ledger structure
• Assist with financial month end, year end close, and year end audit documentation
• Prepare and process journal entries, accrual and prepayment schedules, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and variance reporting
• Any additional task as requested

Qualifications:

• In depth technical knowledge of standard costing in a manufacturing environment
• Applicable undergraduate degree (4 yrs.)
• 3-5 years as a cost accountant/accountant in manufacturing environments
• 3-5 years’ experience with costing using recognized leading software solutions (i.e., Epicor, Infor XA, JDE, Oracle, SAP, etc.)
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and data analysis
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
• Knowledge of Epicor is a plus

Salary Range :

• Salary to commensurate with applicant experience

Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

• Davison, MI 48423: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Accounting: 3 years (Preferred)
• Cost accounting: 2 years (Preferred)
• ERP systems: 1 year (Preferred)
