Job Summary
As key members of the Career Development Center (CDC) team, desk and event assistants will provide customer service to employers and students while also actively helping plan, promote, and implement career-related events.

Essential Duties
  • Perform general office duties such as greeting/assisting visitors, answering phones, processing mail, approval of job postings and employers, and helping collect and enter graduate outcome data.
  • Provide support in helping students develop and edit resumes and cover letters. This requires the ability to critique resume content in terms of proofreading, format, and style without passing judgment on the author.
  • Provide significant support to students, employers, and MWSU employees with career and employment software, such as Handshake, Big Interview, etc. This requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide ongoing training opportunities and promote staff communication and collaboration to provide exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as a supportive team member by being accountable for individual and team responsibilities and deliverables by assisting with planning, promotion, and implementation of career-related events.

  • Degree Seeking
  • At least an overall 2.0 GPA
  • Enrolled at least part-time

  • Ability to regularly report to work on time as scheduled.

  • A demonstrated ability or willingness to work with diverse people.
  • Skilled written, verbal, and electronic communicator.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through acting with integrity and maintaining an image of neatness, efficiency, and organization by strictly following office opening/closing procedures, keeping work areas tidy, adhering to the department dress code, etc.

Physical Demands
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
