Position Overview:

The successful candidate will be called of God, be committed to serve as a member of a faith-driven team, and have a strong interest in the overall service and ministry of Community Outreach Ministries (COM). The Development Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to enhance COM’s fundraising and financial development strategies. The Development Coordinator will assist in writing and reporting on grants, lead COM’s fundraising committee, oversee marketing strategies, and will help steward relationships with individual donors to increase individual giving.

Community Outreach Ministries (COM) is a faith-based non-profit organization focused on helping people in need in Polk County, Missouri. The mission of COM is to eliminate food insecurity in Polk County by empowering people through relationships and long-term development.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Executive Director on identifying grant opportunities and submitting applications to appropriate grants for the organization.
  • Work with program staff to compile and submit progress reports to funders for grants the organization receives.
  • Oversee growth and effectiveness of Compassion Collaborative, COM’s monthly giving program, ensuring strong relationships are built with regular donors.
  • Head up COM's Fundraising Committee to effectively plan and execute "Polk County's Got Talent," COM's annual fundraising event.
  • Assist the organization in exploring ways to better promote Qualified Charitable Donations, Donor Advised Funds, and Appreciated Asset Giving as giving opportunities for donors.
  • Maintain accurate donation and grant records in COM’s donor management system.
  • Ensure all donors are properly thanked and recognized in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Work with the Executive Director on implementing marketing and social media strategies to better promote and raise awareness of COM and its mission within the community.
  • Research and identify potential new donors and sponsors.
  • Assist the Executive Director in managing awarded NAP Tax Credits and promote credits to businesses and accountants throughout the region.
  • Uphold biblical standards in all facets of job performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in public relations or nonprofit/business development
  • 1-3 years or more working in fundraising or grant writing
  • Familiarity with managing social media, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Professional written and interpersonal skills are essential when communicating with donors and sponsors
  • Experience planning large scale events and fundraisers
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the success of Community Outreach Ministries and an ability to communicate that enthusiasm to the community.
  • Ability to practice good self-care
  • Able to maintain proper confidentiality of client and donor information
  • Be reliable, pay attention to detail, dependable, and very organized
  • Be a resourceful self-starter with an ability to follow through on a wide range of projects. Able to prioritize and manage several deadlines and projects efficiently.
  • Able to work independently, yet be willing to be a team player,
  • Shall not be the perpetrator in a substantiated report of neglect or abuse.
  • Be active in a local church, and possess good spiritual and emotional health.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $14.50 per hour
