Position Summary
Develop and implement recruitment and training strategies to increase hiring and retention of people with disabilities throughout Cape Girardeau County.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Commitment to Mission, Vision, and Values of CCSOMO.
- Strict adherence to rules of confidentiality
- Establish relationships with local businesses, disability support offices, school districts located in Cape Girardeau County and other government and community-based agencies to reach targeted population.
- Establish direct contact with people with disabilities and families to identify suitable employment opportunities.
- Partner with school districts in Cape Girardeau County to provide seamless and authentic secondary transition programs and to coordinate focused, skill-based training during their regular school day and after graduation.
- Collaborate with local Department of Mental Health (DMH) and DMH contracted providers to develop unified employment programs and to coordinate skill-based training that identifies a person’s career goals and support needs to be successful when transitioning into integrated and meaningful employment.
- Develop promotional material and participation in community events.
- Provide technical assistance to businesses and DMH contracted providers regarding the recruitment process and identify barriers in the recruitment process.
- Provide potential applicants with job coaching, interview and resume building, and any other necessary assistance to help during the recruitment process.
- Grant writing, collecting data, reporting, and presenting results.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Licensure and Certifications
Bachelor’s preferred, at a minimum high school graduate or equivalent.
Experience
Prefer experience with working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Must have experience and willingness to work in a fast-paced social service, faith-based environment.
- Ability to work with people of economically and culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Strong customer/client etiquette.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone and email communication.
- Availability, dependability, and willingness to be flexible.
- Ability to effectively build professional relationships in the community.
- Willing to attend trainings and community meetings to promote employment
- Willing to travel to attend conferences/trainings.
- The potential candidate needs to be outgoing, self-motivated, respectful, organized and have a passion to enhance the employment opportunities of individuals with developmental disabilities in Cape Girardeau County.

The Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) program of Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri (CCSOMO) promotes excellence and continuous improvement in all functions of client care, support services and the organization. PQI is embedded in all aspects of CCSOMO’s daily work and in its strategic, long-term development. Special Working Conditions
- This position may require extended periods of standing, sitting, as well as some repetitive movements, and/or bending and repetitive lifting of 10-25 pounds of weight.
