DevOps Engineer

Location: Fully Remote

Terms: Full-Time

Project Overview:

This position will primarily support the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Departmental Administration Information Technology Office (DAITO) in a billable capacity. USDA has a requirement to consolidate and enhance existing web content management capabilities to support current and future needs while reducing costs.

Role Summary:

The DevOps Engineer applies knowledge of containerization models and orchestration to develop, manage, and maintain the environments for our customer. In this role's work you will be focused on containerization of applications with Docker and development of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline. You will drive continuous integration, build and deploy processes, monitor environments, and provide exceptional IT services.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4 to 6 year's experience working in large-scale production environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with Linux.
  • Advanced understanding of Linux, Networking, and Internet principles.
  • Programming skills in one or more scripting languages (bash or python preferred).
  • Experience in monitoring infrastructure and applications using tools like Nagios, Prometheus & Influx DB.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Experience with both cloud and physical infrastructure (AWS).
  • Experience with container management solutions such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience with container runtimes mainly docker.
  • Experience with managing and deploying Drupal sites is a plus.
  • Experience with troubleshooting issues on live sites.
  • Ability to be on-call on a rotating schedule basis and be the first line of defense during such times.
  • Experience with following industry best security practices in SDLC.
  • Experience in Rancher is a plus but not required.
  • Experience managing & tuning java services in a production environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Experience implementing technologies with a focus on operability, reliability, and scalability.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent technical experience).
  • Familiarity with the SDLC, Agile, Scrum, and associated tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with USDA web presence.
