School/Department Information
The Office of Strategic Communications maintains the University’s public image and internal communications through strategic marketing practices, public relations, media relations, news services, publications, executive messaging and crisis/emergency communications through all channels, including print, web, social media and email. The staff establishes standards for articulating the University’s mission, vision, core values, strategic goals and visual identity. These standards guide promotions for the University’s performances and events and for sharing the accomplishments of its students, alumni, faculty and staff to external and internal audiences, including potential students and parents, students, faculty, staff, alumni, supporters and the general public.
The Office of Strategic Communications also offers expertise, insight and strategic planning to the Chancellor and other senior-level administrators on communications issues and events within the campus community.

Primary Description of Work
The Digital Content Producer reports to the Director of Digital Media and works with colleagues in Strategic Communications and communication professionals within the conservatories and units across campus. This position is often required to make real-time decisions about how best to represent the University in online conversations and helps implement the University’s digital media and social media strategy. The role also assists in researching, planning, creating, editing, organizing and posting web and social media content that effectively tells the University’s story.
Key responsibilities include creating, managing and updating dynamic content for the UNCSA website and affiliated social media channels, managing the University’s online reputation and helping expand the University’s digital media program into new platforms to effectively shape public perceptions and develop a broad community of support. In addition, the Digital Content Producer writes timely and compelling news stories and innovative features. This person also manages the production of a weekly e-newsletter, publishes content to websites using tools including OU Campus, MailChimp and Photoshop and manages updates for campus digital signage, calendar and map. In addition, the Digital Content Producer will report analytics across all digital platforms – identifying trends in the analytics and providing insights and recommendations to optimize content based on the analytics. This position requires excellent writing abilities, fact-finding and information-gathering skills and experience meeting tight deadlines.
This role will also perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Some weekend and evening work is required.

Work Schedule and hours
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Description of Responsibilities and Duties
  • Support the implementation and day-to-day management of the UNCSA intranet portal and mobile app, Pathify.
  • Assist with the launch of the platform in spring 2023
  • Becoming an in-house expert for campus collaborators
  • Coordinate, manage and update engaging and dynamic content on the UNCSA website.
  • Respond promptly to web update requests submitted via the web update form.
  • Write, review, copy edit, approve and publish web content, ensuring all content adheres to AP Style and UNCSA style guidelines
  • Implement and practice best practices of ADA-compliance when creating and posting content.
  • Serve as a campus adviser for our content management system (CMS)
  • Offer front-line CMS support and training to the content producers in their units.
  • Communicate changes to the CMS, new web features and new functionality.
  • Serve as a resource for standards, best practices and guidelines around the brand, visual identity, information architecture, content and accessibility.
  • Manage updates for campus map.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Media team during weekly team meetings and regular content brainstorms.
  • Craft, edit and curate written and visual content appropriate within each channel that effectively delivers organizational messages and drives engagement with selected audiences.
  • Produce monthly stories about UNCSA campus news, student, faculty and alumni profiles, performances, listicles, etc. that increase institutional visibility.
  • Create and send weekly internal MySA Minute newsletter for students and faculty/staff in MailChimp.
  • Implements, manages and updates campus digital signage.
  • Schedule social media content to increase the reach of UNCSA content, elevate brand awareness and drive online conversions.
  • Monitor and respond to mentions through real-time alerts across all social media platforms.
  • Manage monthly digital media reporting for the UNCSA website, Pathify app and social media channels for month-in-review meetings.
  • Identify trends in the analytics
  • Provide insights and recommendations to optimize content based on the analytics.
  • Create and conduct usability tests based on analytic insights to refine navigation, terminology, features and functionality.


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, new media, journalism, or related field and two to four years of experience related to the area of assignment; All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

  • Writing for web.
  • Basic HTML.
  • Knowledge of AP Style and ADA compliance
  • Image manipulation and optimization skill (Adobe Photoshop, Canva, etc.).
  • Experience working and publishing in a CMS environment.
  • Familiarity with UNCSA.
  • Experience with Pathify is a plus.

Ability to use a variety of moderately complex processes, procedures and techniques. Ability to use and incorporate various hardware and software packages, as well as traditional design methods. Ability to research and identify new technology and make recommendations for use and purchase. Ability to apply knowledge of organizational principles of design elements. Ability to promote subject matter in a wide variety of media. Ability to train others in use of new methods and technical tools.
Knowledge – Professional
Thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques of planning, writing and editing and producing content. Ability to edit and analyze informational material or content prepared by others. Thorough knowledge of the techniques for disseminating information to the public and target groups.

Ability to independently communicate program information of moderate complexity and impact to targeted audiences; ability to assimilate and communicate information that requires greater understanding and has greater impact on the organization. Ability to establish and maintain a variety of working relationships. Ability to independently assimilate and compose written materials to use in a variety of communication outlets; ability to edit documents to ensure accuracy in content and form; ability to draft communications for final release. Ability to write according to correct English usage and appropriate style guide or accepted industry standards.
