A leading non-for-profit organization committed to providing excellent clinical and social services to some of New York’s most vulnerable populations is currently seeking a Direct Support Professional for their Brooklyn location.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supervising participant as they engage in sponsored activities on and off site
- Ensure the group’s weekly activity sheet is adhered to
- Ensure participants exhibit appropriate social behavior during participation in the program
- Incorporate life skills, money management skills, and travel skills into group and volunteer activities
- Engage in person centered planning with the individuals
- Create an environment to foster personal empowerment
- Attend to the participants’ personal care and needs as they arise
- Responsible for the completion of daily checklists and monthly summary notes
- Act as a role model to the participants by displaying appropriate work behavior
Qualifications:
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Associates is preferred in Human services, psychology, or Sociology
- Previous experience or knowledge in the I/DD field is a plus
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
