Description
  • Plan and direct all clinical behavioral health services of the department following established standards of care, best practices, applicable laws, and district policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, consistent, strategic clinical behavioral health plan across the school and clinic-based teams, including client referral, intake, screening, assessment, waiting list, and crisis intervention processes.
  • Effectively manage clinical documentation and utilization of the electronic medical record system (EMR), oversee the implementation of ongoing quality improvement processes, clinical behavioral health assessments, and related staff training.
  • Direct the Alcohol and Drug Intervention Program, including increasing awareness, expanding prevention, facilitating intervention, and promoting recovery for substance use and abuse in district youth.
  • Work closely with the Director of Mental Health Services Operations to maintain close coordination and collaboration among all department activities and programs.
  • Assist with the development of a comprehensive professional development plan for staff within the department, ensuring all staff members are current with their CEU’s, and trainings are consistent among all mental health providers.
  • Liaison across departments within the district, specifically between Counseling, Social Emotional Learning, Special Education, Discipline, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), to ensure a continuum of mental health services for students.
  • Represent and promote Mental Health Services through community and professional partnerships, collaborative projects, and other activities to enhance client services and program operations.
  • Foster and sustain the partnership with Parkland Health Hospital System to provide physical health services at school-based clinic locations.
  • Supervise the management of all school-based clinic facilities and related projects.
  • Create relevant mental health resources and department collateral for internal and external partners, including district staff, parents, students, and community stakeholders.
  • Select, train, and supervise staff and make sound recommendations about personnel placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work or other Mental Health studies from an accredited college or university preferred. Possession of a professional mental health license (LSSP, LCSW, LMFT, LP) is preferred.
  • Experience working in a school district setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA, FERPA, and Medicaid billing.
  • Competence in consultation skills, crisis intervention, and individual, family, and group counseling modalities.
  • Demonstrated success in working with multi-disciplinary and community partnerships.
  • Character and personality to relate effectively with racially and ethnically diverse staff, students, and families.
