Title: Director of Digital Learning and Library Services


Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in instructional technology, Library Services, Curriculum and Instruction and/or Leadership or related field required.

  • Experience as a Instructional Technology Facilitator and/or School Librarian or school or district administrator directly supporting technology and libraries preferred.

  • Experience in coordinating instructional technology support and services in an educational institution.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated skill in planning and presenting professional development.

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.


Reports to: Executive Director of Elementary Schools and Special Programs or Executive Director of Secondary Schools and Special Programs


Job Goal: To provide leadership for the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality of instructional technology and media programs to achieve excellence in the educational experience and success for all students.


Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collaborates with school and district-based instructional leaders to determine appropriate use of technology for instruction in various subject areas.

  • Serves as a coordinator, supporter, and liaison for school-based instructional technology facilitators and media specialists and High School Online Learning Facilitators (NCVPS and Credit Recovery) and makes recommendations regarding their programs.

  • Provides assistance to principals in hiring, supporting and evaluating instructional technology facilitators and media coordinators.

  • Serves as the district liaison to High School Apex and NCVPS Online Facilitators

  • Develops project plans and coordinates the implementation of major instructional technology and library projects in the district.

  • Prepares, recommends, and monitors sections of the budget that pertains to instructional technology and media.

  • Keeps current regarding research based practices in curriculum, instruction and technology, and library information science and furnishes leadership in determining their appropriateness for inclusion in the district’s educational program.

  • Evaluates and recommends the purchase of equipment and materials within ISD for the implementation and improvement of instructional technology use in the district.

  • Co-facilitates the creation and implementation of the K-12 curriculum that integrate with the NC Digital Learning Standards

  • Coordinates and supports the district-wide Digital Learning Competency Professional Learning program to support teachers, staff and administrators related to the integration of digital and information literacy in all schools.

  • Serves as the primary contact and coordinator for the purchase, renewal and platform administration of district-wide digital learning and media applications used in the district

  • Co-facilitates the oversight of implementation and oversight of district-wide digital learning tools.

  • Recommends and implements website block/unblock system configuration with ITD for the district’s Internet content filter system.

  • Serves as the liaison between Information Technology Division and the Instructional Services Division to coordinate effective digital learning and library services integration in instructional programs.

  • Collaborates with the Executive Director of Technology/Information Technology Department to determine the standards and selection of instructional technology hardware and materials, including district-wide online subscriptions.

  • Creates and presents reports and updates to various committees including the School Board.


Terms of Employment: Twelve-month year. Salary in accordance with the adopted schedule.


Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
