POSITION DESCRIPTION: Catering Ware Washer

Position: Ware washer

Reports To: Chef, or to the Sous Chef in their absence

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

This position is responsible to maintain all aspects of the cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen facilities and equipment. The incumbent is expected to clean and sanitize dishes and the kitchen. They are responsible to ensure that D’Amico meets all health, safety and sanitary standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen and dish area.

2. Organization of all small wares and rolling stock.

3. As directed by the Chef, assist with receiving goods, tear down boxes and haul trash.

4. Maintain good relationship with kitchen staff and all departments.

5. Perform special inventory and cleaning projects assigned by chef.

6. Follows all required procedures before closing and leaving at the end of a shift.

7. Takes pride in work.

8. Cost conscious.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Subject to cleaning chemicals, wet floors, temperature and humidity extremes and loud noise.

2. Able to places cases, pans, utensils and plates on both low and high shelves

3. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular and continuing basis.

4. Must possess physical stamina with the ability to stand, kneel, bend and exert well-paced mobility for long periods of time, often up to eight hours in length.

5. Must have manual hand and finger dexterity to use tools to receive goods, break down boxes and clean kitchen area.

6. Must be flexible and able to work day, night and weekend shifts.

7. Must be able to listen attentively to supervisor and other employees to facilitate communication.
