Specific Responsibilities:
- Schedule and assign driver routes and vehicles to make deliveries or collect returned items
- Assign delivery driver for daily shuttle runs
- Plan and pre-determine routes and accommodate route changes as needed.
- Check out drivers, and distribute necessary paperwork
- Preparing dispatch documents, as well as generating invoices.
- Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information
- Address problems and requests by notifying Dispatch Supervisor or providing solutions
- Communicating with delivery drivers about delivery or pickup times, and special handling requests.
- Provide delivery drivers with information about orders, traffic, obstacles and requirements
- Enter data in computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities and other information
- Monitor driver’s route and progress and assist with problems as needed
- Communicate with Fleet team and all departments to assure accurate and expedient cycling
- Any other duties that may be required consistent with the overall scope of the dispatch position.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in basic computer skills
- Attention to detail
- Willing to work a flexible schedule
- Able to react professionally in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks within heavy deadlines
- Clean, valid driver’s license
- Delivery Driver experience a plus
- At least 2 years of dispatching experience required
