Lincoln County School District is accepting on-line applications for a Early Childhood Coordinator.

PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to work collaboratively with school district personnel to facilitate a public/private partnership between the school district and private early care andeducation providers. This position supervises district classified staff working in the Parenting/Pregnant Teen Program and childcare programs at Taft 7-12 and Newport High School.

Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with school district staff, private child care teachers, parents, and community organizations.
  • Responsible for supervision and evaluation of Pregnant Parenting Teen Program and childcare worker staff as directed by district program administrator(s).
  • Recruits providers to participate in program.
  • Assists in planning and delivering a developmentally appropriate professional development model.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of program goals, curriculum and conduct demonstration lessons.
  • Disseminates research-based curriculum and instructional programs.
  • Facilitates transition to kindergarten activities between providers and school districts.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to assigned activities.
  • Maintains confidentiality of children, families, and providers involved in the program.
  • Disseminates information regarding early childhood education programs to staff and the community for the purpose of informing and educating.
  • Serves as the District representative to local, county, state and federal agencies involved with services to families with young children for the purpose of gathering and disseminating information of District services.
  • Prepares in a timely fashion, appropriate applications and provides assistance on reports for all state, federal and privately funded projects related to preschool education for the purpose of ensuring continued funding and complying with state and federal requirements.
  • Prepares and monitors all budgets related to early childhood programs for the purpose of implementing and maintaining such programs.
  • Serves as a liaison between the school, the home, and the community in building positive attitudes about learning for the purpose of ensuring communication between all service providers.
  • Maintains own professional competence through participation in District, regional or state sponsored in-service activities for the purpose of ensuring the effectiveness of the programs.
  • Plans and coordinates professional development based on current research in curriculum, instruction, and assessment with the District and providers.
  • Ensures compliance with State, federal and all funding source guidelines.
  • Directs the preparation of statistical and narrative reports to ensure reporting requirements are met for State and other funding sources.
  • Plans and coordinates parent education and parent involvement
  • Communicates with district administrators, agencies, and organizations to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and exchange information.
  • Attends and participates in meetings, trainings and conferences as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in child development or a related field; minimum of five years teaching experience in a public or private child care facility or family child care home and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and eperience.

Knowledge of: Child development programs and licensing requirements both private and state funded; principles, theories, practices, methods and techniques used in early childhood classroom instruction; classroom procedures which promote appropriate conduct and motivation for learning; child guidance principles and practices; interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy; current trends and research concerning the growth and development of children; standardized and performance based assessment practices; applicable state and federal codes, laws and regulations; standards software applications.

This position will be located primarily at the Compass Center in Newport but is responsible for programs at all schools. Knowledge and experience of the local area is a helpful.Excellent Benefits: Employer paid PERS, Medical, Dental, Vision insuranceSalary: $56,702 - $68,310/year

This is an 8 hour per day, 260-day position. This is a grant funded position.Qualified applicants will be asked for an interview and must provide a resume and at least 2 letters of recommendation. Upon selection, employees will be required to pay for the following: $12.50 fingerprinting fee and $59 ODE processing fee.
