Job Summary

The Education Sponsorship Sales Specialist develops and nurtures opportunities that lead to the sale of IEEE education sponsorships, products and services, and philanthropic donations. They will be accountable for closing sponsorship sales and meeting annual budget goals for sponsorship. This individual is passionate about the impact of education and develops revenue opportunities that connect organizations with IEEE education programs. The Education Sponsorship Sales Specialist will conduct analytical research, build prospect lists, generate leads in coordination with the Educational Activities marketing team, actively work with those leads to develop sponsorship and sales offers, and close sales. In coordination with the IEEE Global Sales team, the IEEE Foundation, and other channels, the Education Sponsorship Sales Specialist will solicit donations and sponsorships, close sales, provide metrics/results to customers, and generate significant revenue for Educational Activities.

This position functions as an individual contributor under general supervision and reports to the Educational Activities Director of Strategy, Marketing & Governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • 40% Prospect and Customer Engagement • Solicits donations and sponsorships for educational programs and close sales. • Serves as first point of contact for sponsorship sales and donation leads, with immediate follow-up and engagement. • Makes sponsorship sales presentations to prospects, sometimes in collaboration with Educational Activities program owners. •Works with existing sales channels when appropriate (global sales team, 3rd party sales partners, IEEE Foundation) to encourage the offering of educational products, support the sales process, and warm up leads. • Hands off interested prospects to appropriate partner for closing when appropriate. • Facilitates prospect and customer tracking and process support including initial outreach, billing, acknowledgment, post support follow up and regular reporting. • Works with Educational Activities staff to identify appropriate offerings for prospects. • Works with Educational Activities staff to gather sponsorship-related analytics and provides these to customer at the completion of sponsorship engagements.
  • 40% Prospecting• Identifies new prospects, points of contact, and sponsorship opportunities through research and analytics. • Builds lead lists and actively pursues those leads. • Reaches out to new prospects via phone and email to create sponsorship sales and donation opportunities. • Attends conferences to network with prospects and customers and present information about Educational Activities offerings.
  • 20% Sales Asset Development• Writes targeted, effective copy and communications collaborating with marketing to engage leads and help move them through the sponsorship sales funnel. • Creates compelling sponsorship sales presentations based on customer needs through a consultative customer interview and research process. • Develops sponsorship packages for prospects based on customer needs. • Recommends product positioning and customization based on research and customer feedback.

Qualifications - External

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Marketing, Business, Communications, English or equivalent experience Req

Work Experience

  • 2-4 years Experience with sponsorship sales and lead generation Req

  • Experience with media sales Pref
  • 2-4 years Research and analytics experience Pref
  • Social media marketing experience, especially LinkedIn Pref
