The California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation was incorporated in 1968 as a partner of the University to provide services and develop and enhance programs that are an integral part of the University's educational mission. About the Position
CSU Dominguez Hills seeks a dedicated leader to serve as the Program Director of two U.S. Department of Education grant funded Educational Talent Search programs. A leader in education with demonstrated successful experience building new grant funded programs, managing large grants, working with middle and high schools, school governance organizations, and community-based organizations. Experience in building and leading coalitions to deploy innovative strategies focused on improving high school graduation rates, college enrollment and completion rates. The Educational Talent Search (ETS) Program Director is responsible for the administration of two five-year grants including supervising of all affiliated personnel and sub-contracts. The primary purpose of the Program Director is to ensure the continued viability and presence of ETS by complying with and abiding by all federally mandated requirements of the program. The Program Director will build programs and engage stakeholders to improve the educational outcomes for target school students, initiate ongoing communication between target schools, CSU Dominguez Hills, ETS partners and community-based organizations. Grant compliance and meeting stipulated goals, objectives and outcomes are primary functions of this position. The Director will establish long- and short-term strategies to accomplish programs goals and objectives.
Position Information
Employment at the Foundation is on an at-will basis and can be terminated by either an employee or the Foundation at any time with or without cause or advance notice. Permanent status can neither be obtained nor granted.
This is a Full-time, non-exempt, benefited position employer-sponsored health, dental vision, life insurance, retirement program and vacation pay.
Rate of Pay
Salary: $75,000.00
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish a new, first-time ETS grant program in the Inglewood Unified School District.
- Oversee and strengthen the renewed ETS grant program within LAUSD at Freemont and Jefferson High School.
- Establish working relationships with the district(s) and school leadership to implement the ETS grant objectives successfully.
- Oversee two ETS programs to ensure overall quality and effectiveness of program implementation, administration, evaluation, and compliance with the ETS grant.
- Utilizing best practices to identify short-term and long-term strategies to accomplish the mission and objectives of the program(s).
- Establish a consortium of stakeholders (target school, university, community-based partners, college access programs) to streamline communication and enhance the overall effectiveness of the ETS services.
- Oversees ETS Budget and fiscal accountability ensures the program has a dollar-for-dollar match and compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Hire, train and provide support to all ETS program staff.
- Create and maintain a collaborative work environment by advocating on their behalf and ensuring staff receive support and development.
- Set and monitor performance goals and expectations and conduct annual evaluations of staff performance.
- Ensures that timely program evaluation is conducted that assesses the performance of ETS and assists with data collection and analysis.
- Completes and files the US Department of Education - Annual Performance Report, successfully meeting deadlines established by the Department of Education.
- Ensures ETS data is disseminated to necessary CSUDH and school districts stakeholders in a timely fashion.
- Actively seeks new opportunities to learn and promote ETS best practices and college access high-impact practices.
- Develops statewide, regional, and national partnerships and initiatives to enhance sustainability efforts, community support, professional development, a college-going culture, and college access programs.
- Works on projects assigned by the Director of Educational Partnerships.
- The expectation is that the Program Director will enhance the overall operation, even if this means helping with tasks outside their job description.
Education:
- Master's Degree required in education, counseling, public administration or related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience with federal TRIO or GEAR UP programs, academic support projects and programs for diverse students.
- Experience with federal program reporting and compliance.
- Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers like those confronted by participants.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in program management; budget management; program development; staff/personnel supervision; and evaluation.
- Knowledge of data assessment, interpretation, evaluation, and reporting.
- Proficiency in the use of computerized office systems and word processing tools
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask needs between multiple schools, and school district's
- Knowledge of collaboration practices, team teaching practices, and special education
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with school administrators, staff, students, and families.
