Electrician – District 4

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC), America’s first superhighway, is seeking an individual to join our Engineering – Facilities Operations team as an Electrician! Our mission is to operate a safe, reliable, customer-valued toll road system that supports national mobility and commerce. The PTC operates a 552-mile system used by 194 million vehicles a year. The Electrician is skilled work in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures at various locations for the PTC. Together, we are building the highway of the future!

Responsibilities

• Maintains, repairs and installs electric motors, relays, conductors, pumps, heaters, fans, air conditioners, electric services, distribution centers, breaker panels, card control devices, emergency generators, switch gears, transformers, roadway lighting, tunnel lighting, general lighting, conduit and associated wiring.
• Locates and corrects power failures and short circuits.
• Inspects completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations.
• Must be available for emergency response.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification.
• Must possess a valid Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL)

OR

possess a valid driver’s license with a valid CDL learner’s permit. Must pass the Class B CDL road test by the end of the probationary period (new hires) or trial period (current employees).

• The incumbent may not have any of the following restrictions on their CDL or learner’s permit:

• E – Prohibits the operation of manual transmission vehicles
• K – Restricts the CDL driver to intrastate driving
• L or Z – Prohibits driving a commercial vehicle equipped with airbrakes
• Must possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Physical Card).

• Completion of electrical technical training at an accredited technical school and three (3) years of experience with a commercial/residential balance as an electrician;
• OR
• five (5) years of documented electrical experience with a commercial/residential balance.

The starting hourly rate is $24.91per hour, non-negotiable Union rate.

This Electrician position is located within District 4 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike with a reporting location out of our Plymouth Meeting, PA facility.
