REPORTS TO: Supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Electronics Technician, Maintenance III applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering, changes. Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, installing wiring in aircraft for T2 Modifications, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high-frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment. Work may be reviewed by the supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices. This position may provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians. May be given the responsibility for a system isolated from the direct higher-level supervisor. Will usually be required to provide guidance, training, and work direction to lower-level technicians.

GENERAL DUTIES: The Electronics Technician will be working specifically with the F-15 & F-16 Suite 6 aircraft, performing modifications to the aircraft electronics. Must be able to read and understand Air Force Tech Orders, and possess a general knowledge of electronic component characteristics to aid in the selection of replacement components and devices. Installing aircraft instrumentation wiring, terminating wiring, installing connections, and installing numerous electronic wiring and systems. Assemble parts, components, sub-systems, and assemblies per the direction of the supervisor, engineer, or higher-level technician, using technical data, drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions. Knowledge of other trades such as the mechanical skills necessary to repair and modify servo systems, pedestal-drive systems, waveguide installations, and optics associated with laser and camera systems is a plus. Must be thoroughly familiar with the operation of test instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, frequency measuring equipment, and other related measurement instruments. Candidates must have a good understanding of basic electronic theories and techniques and familiarity with standard electronic components. Required to perform with limited instructions or supervision, may be required to provide guidance, training, and functional supervision to lower-level technicians.

OTHER DUTIES: Other functions include assisting in the orientation and training of other technicians at this level when directed by the supervisor. May be assigned additional responsibilities as a lead technician. Will perform general housekeeping and other job-related tasks. It may be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste. May be required to support contract/mission support requirements in non-job-related areas such as road guard, escort, administrative, or other tasks. Will be required to work overtime, and shift work as required to support missions.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics and have five years of experience as an Electronic Technician. Must possess a general knowledge of electronic component characteristics to aid in the selection of replacement components and devices. Knowledge of other trades such as the mechanical skills necessary to repair and modify servo systems, pedestal-drive systems, waveguide installations, and optics associated with laser and camera systems is a plus. Must be thoroughly familiar with the operation of test instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, frequency measuring equipment, and other related measurement instruments.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: May perform work assignments in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Some tasks and assignments such as the installation; operation; and maintenance of mobile systems, aircraft systems, or range instrumentation will require work performance in outside environments in heat or cold with exposure to the conditions typical of various work locations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, or carry heavy items.
