POSITION SUMMARY:
Plan, conduct and supervise all department testing for a specific site. Provide technical and administrative supervision to assure that the technical, administrative, schedule and budget goals for the department are achieved. EMI: Electromagnetic Interference tests/measurements of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and subsystems using standard and precision measurement instrumentation.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Provide technical and administrative direction to EMI Technicians
• Interact with customers and Program Managers for technical support and review of test results
• Troubleshoot escalated testing issues
• Work with department staff to run certain test, particularly if they are complex in nature
• Other - Perform other duties as assigned
CORE REQUIREMENTS:
• Provides direct supervision to professional and skilled support individual contributors (e.g., technicians, designers, and support personnel. Acts as advisor to unit or sub-units and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems
• Able to complete technical and mechanical procedures. Works on issues where analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Strong interpretation and analysis of test results. Acts as an advisor to others, to meet schedules and resolve technical problems. Develops and administers schedules
• Frequent interaction with functional peer groups or managers regarding other departments, or clients. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or schedules
• Strong understanding of Engineering principles; data interpretation, EMI testing & troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical principles, comprehensive knowledge of all potential aspect of safety
• Comprehensive management skills, mathematical skills, and good understanding of all standard and complex EMI equipment. Proficient MS Office skills
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• BS in Electrical Engineering (Masters preferred)
• 5-10 years in a related field, 3-5+ years in a management role
- Experience in military testing and equipment/testing protocols preferred, to include: lab management experience, coordinating test assets, project scheduling, procedures and reports. Experience with maintenance and calibration also preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Test lab with exposure to sudden, loud noises
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
