Our office is located in Lawrence on the Andover border. We are immediately off of the 495 exit, or off of Rte 114. Plenty of free parking! We are a team of 7 for approximately 420 employees.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Employee Relations and Training Specialist assists the VP of Human Resources in employee or labor relations areas and management training. This position role may also supports a wide range of additional HR Generalist functions to include: employee engagement, compliance efforts and HR projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages employee and labor relation issues that include providing guidance to managers and employees on the interpretation of provisions of the collective bargaining agreement and employee handbook.
  • Reviews employee grievances and evaluates allegations. Works with the union representatives, employees and managers to resolve issues.
  • Ensure adherence and compliance with contractual requirements in conducting disciplinary hearings.
  • Provide guidance to managers on carrying out goal setting for corrective action
  • When necessary, manages terminations and off boarding tasks.
  • Provides management HR training to supervisors and managers during onboarding. Additional training workshops would be needed weekly for managers on assisting with conflict resolution, progressive discipline and proper documentation

Other Responsibilities:

  • Develop employee engagement initiatives.
  • Attends unemployment hearings.
  • HR projects

Qualifications and Educational Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • PHR, or SHRM-CP is strongly preferred.
  • 5 years of employee relations experience is required, preferably in a healthcare or service driven industry; union experience is very helpful.
  • Must have solid MS office skills and the ability to use an HRIS program (we use Paycom),
  • Strong presentation skills, the ability to communicate clearly both in writing and orally, high levels of organization and prioritizing skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and a minimum of 1 year of driving experience.
  • The ability to very occasionally work outside of normal business hours to accommodate investigations or travel to one of our locations for a hearing on behalf of the company.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
