RT&T, a joint venture of InDyne, Inc. and Amentum Services, Inc. is the prime contractor to support the Atlantic Range Technical Support Services (ARTSS) for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) headquartered in Patuxent River, MD, and with locations in Maryland, Virginia, and California.

ARTSS supports Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR) and Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) in research and development, engineering, maintenance, operation, support of facilities, systems, and equipment in order to meet the engineering development and operational testing and fleet training missions for some of the world’s premier systems. Our work with the U.S. Navy keeps the warfighter safe by testing systems before they are used in combat, and we are hiring personnel to support this important mission.

Background Information: This full-time, onsite position supports the Aircraft Signature & Avionics Measurement (ASAM) Radar Cross Section (RCS) team within the Range Instrumentation Division (RID) of the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) at Patuxent River, Maryland. ASAM’s Radar Cross Section (RCS) team conducts ground-to-air RCS and other measurements supporting aircraft, helicopters, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and towed targets and decoys testing.

Engineer, Journeyman duties and Responsibilities:

Salary range 126 to 172K annually

  • Performs journeyman-level engineering development and data analysis for RCS’ ADAMS and BEAMS team as assigned
  • Development tasks including writing and maintaining production-level code, algorithm implementation, software test and evaluation, documentation, and procedures
  • Performs investigation of computer technical issues and advises Team Leads of recommended solutions
  • Some overtime and travel may be required for this position

Education, Certifications, Licenses, and Skills for a Engineer, Journeyman

  • BS Degree in an engineering discipline from a school of engineering having at least one professional engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) (or in related disciplines such as physics, mathematics or computer science) is required
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience performing the stated or similar functions. At least two (2) years of work experience associated with engineering functions as related to development, test, or evaluation of instrumentation systems. Possess an academic and work experience background in such areas as preparation of technical and operational test plans, execution of sophisticated tests, certification of systems, logistic support planning, technical data review, and analytical interpretation of test results. Knowledge of computer systems, software, networks, and interfacing.
  • Expertise in MATLAB, object-oriented programming and production-level software development, radar signal processing, image processing are highly desired
  • Familiarity in coherent radar processing and Doppler radar are desired, but not required
  • Familiarity with uncertainty analysis and flight test CONOPS is also desired
  • Effective communication skills are needed to ensure interfaces and requirements are understood across the ASAM Branch Teams and by end-users
  • Candidates must have demonstrated experience working independently and on teams producing completed staff work to include technical reports, analysis of test results, and compliance with delineated requirements
  • Must have familiarity with DoD security practices and requirements within a test and evaluation environment
  • Must have broad technical/engineering knowledge, be computer literate, and possess strong analytical skills
  • Must possess strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Military and Flight Test experience is beneficial, but not required
  • Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Drug Screening test

Security Clearance:

  • Must have a United States Department of Defense (DoD) issued Secret Security Clearance
  • Selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a US (DoD) issued Top Secret Security Clearance once employed

Work Conditions:

  • Conditions may vary. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings, but some outside work may be required. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Applicant should be capable of lifting 50-100 lbs. assisted by other employees. Vision abilities needed to perform this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
