Entry Level Design Engineer
Job description
SUMMARY
The Design Engineer is responsible for preparing clear, complete, and accurate production drawings and creating custom proposals to our customers by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates production drawing, detail dimensioning/geometric tolerances, selection of materials, part relationships, creating detail parts and assemblies. Also designs proposals to customer requirements.
- Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and manufacturing processes to complete design, including detailing and dimensioning and modeling.
- Makes any adjustments or changes from suggestions or observations.
- Creates sketches or drawings utilizing image software.
- Utilizing CAD to create designs from sketches and reverse engineering
- Uses computer aided drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
- Adapts customer designs or requirements, utilizing company standard parts where appropriate, and suggests revisions in customer designs as needed.
- Prepares perspective or isometric drawings or sketches as directed.
- Ability to check other designs from the engineering team.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
- Behaves courteously to co-workers and customers, follows directions of supervisors and refrains from loud, aggressive or profane language and behavior.
- Regular work attendance.
- Perform stress analysis as required.
QUALIFICATIONS/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
- Four year degree required with a focus on mechanical design with two years related experience. Proficient in Solid Works and or Cadkey/Key Creators. BS degree in Design Engineering Technology/Mechanical Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Engineering Technology.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, sketches, and specifications.
- Ability to write reports and effectively communicate.
- Ability to speak effectively to others and is relationship driven.
- Ability to perform advanced CAD operations including 3D modeling and detailing.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable military specifications.
- Problem solver and person who is hands on.
- Able to perform CAD stress analysis.
