OUR TEAM
University of Oregon Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) connects UO with regional communities. Through CPE’s mission to produce or aid in the delivery of educational programs for purposes of lifelong learning and professional development, the Conference Services sub-unit provides an important resource to this mission in two ways: first, by providing specialized operational support to academic departments, individual faculty members in their hosting of on-campus events and noncredit workshops, or other auxiliary units (e.g. UO Housing); second, by providing technically-sophisticated and integrated conference management and customer service solutions to externally-facing professional associations for the administration and production of educational conferences and tradeshows (both small and large-scale: 10,000+ attendees).
WHAT WILL YOU DO AS A TRADESHOW LEAD?
The Exhibits and Corporate Engagement Department is a core service area within Conference Services responsible for exhibit and sponsorship sales, and the associated fulfillment and management functions, for contracted events and meetings. The department also facilities and supports the fulfillment of operations and logistics duties across other core service areas during pre-planning and onsite deployment. Members of this department deliver a full range of services that include, but are not limited to, sales and outreach, sales database maintenance and expansion, sponsorship and branding opportunities definition and fulfillment, web-based application/contract development, website content definition and maintenance, floor plan development and management, digital and print collateral definition and design, communication development, email/phone customer service, client relations, and onsite logistics.
As an Exhibit Services Manager: Operations and Logistics, you will:
- function as a critical member of the Exhibits and Corporate Engagement area, serving as a primary client liaison
- collaborate with other Exhibit Services Managers to lead the project team in the delivery of exhibitor/sponsor customer service
- design and develop the initial exhibit hall floor plan for numerous conferences each year
- support exhibit sales efforts and sponsorship fulfillment throughout the conference cycle and onsite
- manage client, vendor and contractor communications throughout pre-planning and the delivery of onsite operations
- facilitate the implementation of web-based applications/contracts/order forms, exhibitor customer service portals and other online tools
- develop equipment and supply orders, while scheduling for services with vendor suppliers
- train/supervise staff and students to provide customer service for events via phone, email and onsite for assigned events
- travel between 8-30 nights per year to event locations
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?
You will report directly to the Director of Conference Services, and work collaboratively with other team and staff members. You will also be responsible for some collaborative oversight of 3 temporary staff and 5-10 student staff.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. (May substitute four years of experience in appropriate tradeshow/events industry position.)
- Two years of experience in the following areas:
– Tradeshow industry;
– Project management;
– Client representation.
Professional Competencies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in team leadership and employee supervision.
- Ability to lead teams in the management of multiple tasks on varying timelines.
- Ability to travel up to 30 nights per year to event locations nationally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading or participating in an events team focused on exhibits sales and tradeshow fulfillment from project inception through onsite deployment.
- Experience managing suppliers, such as General Services Contractors in the tradeshow industry.
- Meetings certification or relevant coursework.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
