Job Summary:
The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance of the facility operations, such as: systems of plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and electrical, steam/boiler, fire alarm and sprinkler, medical gas, and building automation. Able to perform a wide variety of preventative and or corrective maintenance duties, inspections, diagnosis and testing, installation and repairs of the facility mechanical systems. Additionally, the facility mechanical technician will be involved in the provision of security services at the hospital.
Hours:
- $23.03+ per hour depending on experience
- 40 hours per week
- 1:30PM - 10PM ($1.50 per hour differential starting at 3PM)
- On-Call 1 week per month
Essential Job Functions:
- General building maintenance and painting
- Responding to building automation alarms
- Responding to maintenance calls within facility
- Complete preventative maintenance work orders generated by the electronic maintenance work order system
- Being in on-call rotation
- Regular and prompt work-site attendance
- Responsible for safety and security of staff and visitors on hospital grounds
- Maintains established departmental guidelines, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Performs maintenance, lubrication, cleaning of boilers and chillers on a routine basis
- Observes meter and gauges and adjusts valves and other controls to regulate flow of water and steam, to meet the need for all functions within the facility.
- Checks all mechanical equipment rooms during the respective shift and records readings in a logbook or other required form.
- Responds to all fire alarms, emergency situations (i.e., disaster, bomb threats) and perform all tasks specified in the safety manual.
- Conducts routine plumbing, and electrical maintenance of light fixtures and switches.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Ability:
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
- Experience working in a related area preferred
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
- Previous experience performing maintenance in a hospital environment is desired
- Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement
- Previous experience performing maintenance in a hospital environment is desired
- Is aware of professional standards and performs in accordance with them
- Associate Degree in one or more of the following: Mechanical Systems, HVAC Refrigeration, Plumbing and/or certifications, or equivalent years of experience and aptitude within these trades is preferred
- Demonstrates knowledge of working areas of Mechanical Systems, specifically Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Systems and Mechanical Systems within the field of Maintenance/Plant Operations is preferred
