POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facility Technician provides general support to properties and facilities of the YMCA of the Silicon Valley. The position assists the Association Facilities Director and Branch Leaders to maintain the facilities, including physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs. Participate in Capital Projects on assigned properties with Association Facilities Director as well with other vendor related repairs (collecting bids, submitting requisitions in coordination with Branch Leaders and operating budget). The position may also work to ensure cleanliness at a branch, work directly on mechanical equipment, ensure swimming pools are chemically balanced, repair fitness equipment and perform a variety of other facility maintenance needs as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Creates and ensures ongoing utilization of preventive maintenance (PM) plan
  • Perform equipment repairs, inspections and make adjustments as needed throughout the facilities
  • Performs regular safety checks throughout the facility to ensure a safe and clean environment
  • Identify possible solutions for more effective and efficient systems/processes regarding facility maintenance.
  • Participate in YMCA trainings and other events
  • Order and/or maintain parts and supplies for specific repairs and maintenance activities
  • Work with service contractors and vendors in their efforts to supply outside services and support to the facilities as needed
  • Collaborate with AO Facilities Director to gain knowledge of and communication about compliance with applicable federal, state and local codes
  • Attend AO Facilities team meetings as needed
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
  • Responds in a timely manner to all work order requests that require input and / or assistance
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Willingness and ability to perform hands-on work
  • Five years working experience in facility maintenance and ability to perform maintenance in HVAC, carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, custodial care, and/or swimming pool operations
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations and work scheduled or emergency evening or weekend hours as needed
  • Certified or willing to be certified as a pool operator (CPO) within 90 days of hire
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness and ability to use common tools, observe safety practices and wear protective clothing including but not limited to rain gear, safety glasses, face shield, protective mask, and rubber boots
  • Ability to learn and apply building standards in the field and have knowledge of Cal OSHA standards
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans
  • Good driving record with current license
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop kneel and crouch. Ability to climb, push and pool.
SALARY RANGE: $25.00-$35.00
