Overview: The two year fellowship in Complex Care provides training in the care of children with medical complexity through both inpatient and outpatient experiences. In addition to clinical experience there is ample formal educational opportunity, including the possibility of pursuing a master's degree during a potential third year of fellowship. Responsibilities: Outpatient responsibilities:
Qualifications: The Complex Care fellowship provides deep learning opportunities for trainees (PGY4 or greater) interested in caring for children with medical complexity. At the end of fellowship graduates will be prepared to provide care for this population in both the inpatient and outpatient domains, and will be poised to become faculty in a Complex Care program. The additional exposure to research and quality improvement will provide graduates with a foundation to pursue an academic career if desired.
- Year 1: 8 months in a rotating variety of outpatient clinics
- Year 2: 7.5 months in a rotating variety of outpatient clinics
- Maintain a continuity clinic in Complex Healthcare
Inpatient responsibilities:
- Year 1: 3 months on the inpatient Complex Care service
- Year 2: 2.5 months on the inpatient Complex Care service
Research:
- Year 1: 1 month
- Year 2: 2 months
Education:
- Varied formal on-going training in Complex Care and affiliated services
