    Future Farmers of America Advisor

    Job Summary:
    The FFA (Future Farmers of America) Advisor serves as a sponsor, resource person, and supervisor to the FFA students as they plan and carry out meetings, activities, and chapter projects designed to promote agricultural education in the community.
    • Assist in safe transportation and/or supervision for the following events (in collaboration with the FMHS FFA Advisor):
      • National Western Stock Show (1/13 - 1/17, Denver)
      • District Contest Career Development Event (3/16, FMHS)
      • District Contest Career Development Event 4/5, Hotchkiss)
      • District One Contest (1 day in April)
      • State Career Development Event (4/29 - 5/3, Fort Collins CSU)
    • Supervises after school Chapter meetings, fundraisers, and after school activities in collaboration with the FMHS FFA Advisor.
    • In collaboration with the FMHS FFA Advisor, assist in preparing students for the FFA district and state contests.
    • Attends monthly alumni meetings.
    • Attends quarterly advisory board meetings.
    • Maintain professional and appropriate communication with students, staff, parents, and community members.
    • Support and maintain student safety procedures in accordance with the D51 board policies.
    Qualifications:
    • CTE Agriculture Endorsement (recommended but not required)
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Experience in working with high school students
    • Experience in the agriculture industry
    • Well-developed communication and organizational skills
    • Ability to recognize the importance of safety, follow safety rules, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
    • Ability to be adaptable and flexible with collaborative problem-solving capabilities
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially as related to student issues
    • Ability to advocate for students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse abilities
    • Complete First Aid and CPR certification (upon hire)
    • Obtain the D51 Small Vehicle Permit (upon hire)
