The Job:
Water Works Engineers is looking for a highly motivated Field Engineer to join our field services team in Paradise, California. Do you want to help rebuild this beautiful mountain community? Water is life, and in rebuilding after the 2018 Camp Fire, replacing fire-contaminated water infrastructure has been the key to bringing the town back to life. You will be working under the direct supervision of a group of Professional Engineers as a part of our Paradise Disaster Recovery Program project team, helping this community not only recover, but thrive.

Responsibilities:
As a Field Engineer with Water Works Engineers you will work under the Construction Manager (CM) or Project Manager (PM) and generally be responsible for observation and documentation of day to day onsite construction activities; including performing necessary inspections to ensure the project is being constructed in compliance with the contract requirements and applicable permits including review and approval of the contractor’s quality control testing; coordination, implementation, and tracking of construction changes; progress tracking; and documentation/notification of non-compliance issues. Responsibilities will include the use of GIS equipment to locate and document construction activities. This is a key position in our project team and requires particular attention to detail, a thorough understanding of standard construction practices, and the ability to effectively coordinate between the CM, Engineer, Owner/Client, and Contractor. This initial assignment is a field position, requiring all work be performed outdoors. Appropriate work clothing will be required. Safety training and equipment will be provided.
Desired Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program
· Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification
· Self-motivated individual who is willing to work effectively as part of a team or independently as required by individual project needs.
· Ability and willingness to perform both office and field work as needed. Physical ability to navigate an active construction site to perform construction observation (walking, climbing ladders, etc.).
· Basic knowledge and understanding of design and construction industry standard practices, codes, contracts, drawings, specifications, safety standards, and pollution prevention plan requirements.
· Basic understanding of surveying concepts
· Proficiency in GIS software, CADD software and Microsoft Office products including at a minimum Word, Excel and Project.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Valid CA driver’s license and ability to drive between multiple construction sites (vehicle will be provided or personal vehicle mileage reimbursed, at employee’s option).
